Fashion week is coming to close and I just experienced my grand finale. How exciting is it to attend the Project Runway finale show?! Very.
I knew it would be a mob scene getting in, and luckily I was on the list (you never know sometimes). I wasn't too far in the nosebleeds — and I was directly facing the panel of judges and celebs. Tons of Project Runway alums were mingling in the crowd, including recent cast off Ricky. But honestly, my eyes were on guest judge Victoria Beckham. When she came out, in her orange draped dress and matching orange shoes, the crowd took notice. After photo ops she sat with Nina Garcia and Michael Kors. She was very poised and calm. Funnily, she took diligent notes during every collection — she was taking her guest judge job very seriously.

Lights down, lights up. Our girl Heidi appears announcing, "Hello everyone!" She introduces the judges, and guest judge, and the crowd swoons. Let the show begin...

One of the most exciting parts was waiting to see who was presenting their collection. You know the little shadow thing they do with the white Project Runway sign at the back of the runway, when someone walks by it but you can only see their shadow? That was the first glimpse of the designer to come. First up? Sweet P.
Obviously emotional (surprise) she was visibly nervous and kept her hello short and sweet. Sweet P's designs were never a favorite of mine but she did manage to pull together a cohesive collection on the runway, albeit a bit sleepy. With a palette of purple, olive green and mustard, her colors were right on for Fall. An olive cape was noteworthy, but some fits were off and black velvet jodhpurs? Next . . .
Chris! The crowd favorite, he came out to cheers, and he was very humble and sweet. He seemed shocked and calm. He opened with a lovely dyed blue draped dress but then the collection went vampiress. Now I love vampires, but there's a time and a place — this morning at Bryant Park is not it. Oh well, good for Chris for making it this far.
I know she's not the people's choice, but I've been rooting for Jillian all this time. I think her designs are feminine and smart — and concise. And that is what we saw: short pleated skirts, ruffled knits, a slight military vibe and bustier tops. She may not be the most vivacious, but she's one of the most talented.
We all knew this one was coming . . . Rami. Rami is also one of my top choices and I was eager to see his final collection, which, as he put it "celebrates women." Rami should really consider going into bridal because his gowns won over both his collection and the other designer's gowns on the runway. His separates — ruffled blouses, intricate draping and magenta pants — were overdone and redundant. His dresses were wonderful. But enough to win?
Christian has also held his own throughout the season. Definitely the show diva, when Christian was addressing the crowd he stopped and said, "Wow. Everybody looks fierce." It was Fab. His collection, with Starbucks colors of chocolate, ivory and mocha, and lots of black, had Edwardian touches, dramatic ruffles, head-to-toe black and an emphasis on the top half of the body. If Rami should consider bridal, Christian should consider couture. When Christian was taking in applause he did a little sashay to Victoria — she did one right back. It was maja.
So what's my prediction? Well, in the finale episode on TV there will only be three, so I'm guessing Chris and Sweet P won't make the final cut. For overall wearability and craftsmanship, I'm on Team Jillian. But I have a feeling Christian's over the top concoctions may win the judges vote. As for Posh's vote? Perhaps Jillian, because of her flirty little skirts and dresses, but maybe Rami and his gorgeous gowns. Alas, my favorite never wins. At this point in time, and after reading my run down, who do you think is going to win?!
Comme des Garcons
Ghibli
Halston
I hope Jillian too. Why isn't everyone on Team Jillian?
1Oh, wow, Christian didn't make it to fashion week? Crazy. I'm thrilled to hear Sweet P did. I shouldn't look at these pictures before the show airs, but I'm going to...
2I LOVE Jillian, I hope she wins!! She always designs stuff that I would totally wear. she has great style.
3Wait, nevermind, I guess four made it to the finale.
4Sooo exciting!
5Wait, that's 5. What?
6Yeah, there was five and then two don't end up making it. They can't spoil it for us!
xo
7Can't wait! I agree with you about Jillian...love Chris, but want Christian to win! Thanks for this update
8i cant wait to see this. i love christian and jillian!!
9I'm totally Team Jillian.
10Seriously, if Christian makes another short, cropped jacket with puffy sleeves and an Edwardian collar I will scream.
11I love Jillian's aesthetic but she is sooo dull.
I love Christian and Jillian so confused on who I like more.
12i'm not going to look at your photos because I am so excited to see what they will do when they have time. I think Jillian has been my consistent favorite but not by a wide margin...I won't have a complaint no matter who wins because they have all dazzled on a pretty regular basis.
13Just like you, I've been on team Jillian since the first episode - for her work at least. I hate to say it, and I'm sure I'd be the same way, but her time management issues and consequent melt downs tend to get on my nerves. Personality wise, I hated, then quickly began to love Christian. I also agree with your prediction for the winner. He's been a consistent judge favorite, and nobody else has made Nina smile.
Have other non top-3 contestants had shows at Bryant Park? I would love to see photos of an Austin Scarlett show.
14yay vic!
15Team Rami, he's classic = )
16I'm upset that there was not a warning that we would see one of the contestants that makes it to Bryant Park!
17Christian could become an amazing couturiere. But, Jillian is someone who's clothes i would wear in my actual life. But if i'm gonna choose, i go....
Ferocia Coutoura!!!!!!!!
18haha....(that cracked me up!)
team christian!!
19I am SOOOOO confused here! So the last 5 all got to show in Fashion Week, but are they still going to be voting people off in the next 2 weeks? Have they done it this way before and I just didn't know it? For the last 2 that don't make it, they STILL had to put together a 12 piece collection to show knowing that they hadn't won PR, just for the sake of keeping audiences on the edge of their seat? I mean, I guess even if I'd been auffed and they were going to give me the chance to show at Bryant Park I'd take it cuz it's sucha great opportunity, but still ...
20Honestly Jillian can only make clothes that you can buy at Target and Wal Mart. Yes, she does a great job, but it's all boring and the words "Fashion Forward" are not in her profile of style.
Rami...It's all the same. Reminds me of Laura's high waist heaven...over and over and over again.
Sweet P she has some great talent and I like her style. Just nothing that sticks out too much.
Chris. He creates some great styles for dragqueens.
Christian. He's the only person that understands what it means to go out on a limb and take a chance. He doesn't go for the typical ideal and asthetic. He deserves to win more than anyone.
21What's maja?
22Um, I must say that I'm a little peeved that Jillian was in the picture for this post. We don't know who's going to Bryant Park yet (or at least we didn't). This really takes away from some of the excitement. Also, I did not read the rest of the article, nor did I look at the pictures.
23Well if you read the rest of the article you would have seen that all five showed yesterday at Bryant Park. They do that so no one gets spoiled! So don't get all upset people!
Maja= Vicky B's way of saying "major"
Where do you find Jillian-like stuff at your walmart? I want to shop there!!!
24I never really liked Sweet P's designs
25Well, I guess its a mixed bag on getting the preview. We still don't know who wins but with five showing at Bryant I say good for them. With the exception of SweetP I would had a hard time selecting a winner from the other four, they are all so different.
I'm glad they all got to show, and Chris especially, since he was eliminated once and then brought back in place of Jack.
I hope they let Jack back for the next series if he is well.
26Oh, another thing, I'm not going to see the close up pics. I'll wait for the show then I can come back to FAB to see them again.
27maja= MAJOR! very posh. I'm on team Rami and then Jillian
28I hope that Jillian wins because I think that so far everything she's made has been beautiful, wearable, and realistic, even the Twizzler dress.
29after seeing all those collections, it's obvious that Jillian, Christian and Rami are the top three. Sweet P's is too...not good and Chris's (while i LOVE him as a person) are just really dated and too velvety for my tastes.
I totally agree with Fab. Rami should be a wedding designer and i could see Christian as the next John Galliano. He's so fierce! Jillian is the most mainstream of the three and i absolutely loved her collection too. Such a hard decision!
30aah I wish I had woke up earlier this morning so I could've gone. I had a feeling Posh Spice would be at a show in the day... darn! Oh, well I'm happy with seeing the Zac Posen show!
31I heart Jillian and Christian...
Fab, who did you want to win last season? I was NOT ON team Jeffrey last season.
32LUVS to this season's cast. Christian is such a lil diva...but I ADORE his designs. So chic...I can't believe he is only 21. Jillian has also been a fav, but I agree she is more conservative than fashion forward.
33Team Ferocia Coutoura!!!!!!
I'd love to see Jillian win because I think that she was the most consistently good throughout the season. But Christian will probably win because my pick never does and the judges always seem to have amnesia and never take into account the entire season.
34I know is should be commenting on the collections, but dammit, Rami is SO hot.
35I've loved Christian from day one- I really hope he wins. I think he's pretty consistent in doing great work.
36I hope either Jillian, Rami, or Christian wins! They're all the most unique!
37Jillian puts me to
and so do her designs...with the exception of the really cool black jacket she
did on the team challenge...very Christian of her...
TEAM CHRISTIAN! lol
38NiceDriveway....agreed...Rami is HOT!
39I was excited to get a little sneak peak at the designs. And every season everyone still left in the running has showed at Bryant Park, they just don't show them all on tv. How exciting for them to all get to show, even if they didn't make the final three!
40This whole show all 5 final contestants and then only 3 really make it sucks! i think it's cool that they all got to show, but honestly, Sweet P's looks are just too blah...the yellow dress is the only cute item. Jillian's equestrian theme made me want to throw up! The only thing cute was her outfit which i hope she made and will remake for the masses! Chris needs to stop designing clothes for people that do not tread the boards. His clothes were more Hot Topic than Haute Couture and they were just ugly. Rami was rami and many pieces were elegant, but his seperates seemed forced. He should stick to dresses. Christian and Ferocia Coutura can get it! That collection was the most audacious and the palette was so chic and sophisticated. I want that coat, but I'l lust after it from afar as my body will nt work in it. Overall all the looks matched their designer and I can only hope that Christian takes it home!
41Rami is my favorite!
42I love jillian!!!!! and rami's show really was an improvment from all his over draping!
43I am super confused. Sweet p got sent home! She isn't supposed to be at fashion week! Does this mean my fav show is set up???? What the crap?
44It's confuzing that all 5 show at FW, but there's only, well 4 now, on TV...it doesn't make sense to me...
45I love Jillian's work, she's a fantastic designer! I'm rooting for her for various reasons: she makes beautiful, functional clothes, and I feel we need more women designers. But Christian is the clear winner to me. I'm not going by personalities but by sheer talent alone, and Christian has it in spades. He is a truly gifted designer who, in my opinion, is sure to win.
46I think Sweet P should have been eliminated way before Ricky, & he should have showed at FW.
47Chris said it best, "Sweet P's designs are hit or miss."
All 3 (Jillian, Christian, Rami) are great!!!!!!
I agree, Ricky should have come farther than he did, but he really fell off with that orange WWE number. It really did look like a bathing suit, and wasn't right for the ring.
Sweet P got lucky more than once in the season, but considering the ones who got cut, I'm happier to see her there.
Jillian = *yawn*
Chris is a sweetie. I'd have had to see the rest of his designs before making up my mind.
Rami... what is there to say. He does quality work, at least. And he designs wonderful gowns, but you almost expect to find a label in his separates that says "Designed for Target.
Christian is nothing short of amazing. Even when he makes something twice, he has the ability to pair it with an accessory, and/or a separate to make it look entirely different. He's versatile and innovative, and he really deserves to win.
48i'm confused, it seems so fake if five people end up showing at fashion week instead of only three
49LA VERDAD NO ENTENDI NADA DE LO QUE DISE,PERO LAS IMAGENES SON PRECIOSAS PERO FALTA MAS COLOR LES RECOMIENDO QUE UTILISEN MAS COLORES PARA LA PROCCIMA.OK!!!
