Yay — the Oscars are actually happening! Every day I am thankful I get to dissect what celebrities are wearing, but the Oscars is like being a kid in a candy store. You know who my red-carpet favorites are — Cate Blanchett, Diane Kruger, Keira Knightley — and I love being surprised. Every year I hope for some daring choices, good or bad. Hey, at least people are taking risks right?
Ever since I saw Dolce & Gabbana's paint-splattered ball gown I thought, "Oh my God, somebody has to wear that to the Oscars." I doubt anyone will, but I think Penelope could pull it off. She isn't afraid of drama and color, and with a subdued updo this would be the grandest of looks. And I couldn't stop there — check out my Oscars red-carpet wish list!

1wow, I agree with your choice for Penelope. I'm not sure it's an ideal dress for a red carpet but I think she could rock the hell out of it.

5This is all wrong for her, her style is way way too minimalist. It would be much easier for her to incorporate color (something she shies from in fashion) than couture and discomfort and this (while beautiful) frou frou-ness (which i bet she'd hate). No no no.
She'd be better suited (and more comfortable and therefore better looking) in something slinky/comfortable and jewel-toned.
Low maintenance girls need low maintenance dresses.

6penelope would look awesome in this dress, but I think it's too loud for the oscars. the oscars are so stuffy and anyone that would wear this would be ridiculed.

8Great pick fab! That dress would be great for Penelope. I would love love love to see something this fun at the Oscars. And I think the public would love it too. It's been such a long, dreary Winter - at least here in the midwest. We need some color and drama!

10I saw that D&G dress in Allure and fell in LOVE. I actually think that it would be perfect of Charlize Theron. She always looks great in dresses like that. Plus she totally has the height to pull off that print
