Phillip Lim's collaboration with Birkenstock has finally materialized. These 3.1 Phillip Lim For Tatami Helen Fringe Sandals ($150) are one of the many styles. Though I would never touch a traditional Birkenstocks with a 10-foot pole, I'd wear these because of the fringe and patent details. Plus, they're much more chic than regular Birkenstocks. Would you?

I think they are neat!!!
i don't like shoes from prehistoric era. sorry, but i have to pass it up!
I refuse to wear Birkenstocks of any kind. I don't care if Christian Louboutin makes me a custom pair with real diamonds.
bleh. can you wear these on the golf course?
i don't like these types of sandals.
Ew.
HORRIBLE!
I hate them. This design has been done to death.
likkke
little too much roman sandal for me
I hate birkenstocks....these are not the exception
Ick.
I HATE Birkenstocks. These are almost worse than the traditional ones.
These look cute and certainly they would be comfortable. A very good traveling/walking a lot shoe.
awful!
SH!T those are fug.
I like them, but I'm a bit unsure about the silver, I'd preffer black.
they look like tacky birks
they look like tacky birks
Hate them.They are hella ugly
Ick, no.
I like these, but then I like my regular Birkenstocks, too.
I'm becoming increasingly obsessed with Phillip Lim, and maybe that's skewing my judgment but I do really like these.
I'd definitely wear them, but I'd be concerned about comfort. With such a thin strap going over the foot, and no thong to go between your toes, these look to me like your foot would keep slipping out the front.
I think the gladiator/ Roman deal is so ugly, no matter how shiny you make them.
horrible, horrible, horrible...
I don't do birkenstocks...in any form.
i think Birkenstock's are hideous
I think that traditional Birkenstocks leave a lot to be desired, but they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. So I have been eagerly waiting to see what Philip Lim comes up with! However, I can't seem to find the whole line anywhere... I heard they'll be available on net-a-porter, but does anyone know anywhere else you can buy them? Thanks!
I'd wear traditional Birks before I wore these ugly things.
oohhhh noooo! I am not liking these at all.
What's with the slagging of Birkenstocks? Perfect hippy chic, comfortable sandals. This is just a perversion of the idea to cater to the nail-polished preppy crowd who would indeed "never touch them with a ten-foot pole". Well, then don't. Bound to fail, no matter how many designers polish them up with their prized spit.
so in love.
i think it's cute. will try to look for it in our stores.
Just nasty.
it's like Pocahontas meets Pete Seeger. Ick.
really not so bad. If you are doing a lot of casual walking and its summer, they make a lot of sense.
After destroying my feet with high "fashion" shoes as a teen, finding something that supports my poorly feet, but looks good is difficult to find. So these are a great leap forward in the comfortable show world, and look great for young people!
Please design some more!! In fact if you are reading this Birkenstock people, I have a few more ideas (and just adding lots of bling does not necessarily mean your shoes look prettier)... And don't worry about the people that won't buy your shoes now, because in a few years time of wearing "non icky shoes", they will all be gagging for something pretty and comfortable too.
