Now that Valentino has officially stepped down, succeeding designer Alessandra Facchinetti made her catwalk debut for Fall.

Compared to the pale pastels, bright zings of color, and oodles of ruffles Valentino has infused into his designs the last couple of seasons, Alessandra's work lacked a little of the label's joie de vivre. It could be the more subdued, Fall-appropriate color palette of navy, neutrals, blush, and mustard giving off that impression, but the keen attention to detail wasn't there. It was definitely a safe first collection, but there were hints of good things to come — the requisite Va-Va red was in place. Besides, taking over a label after 45 years under the helm of one man is not a position I envy.

I like it
1It's nice. But I feel like there's something missing, it seems maybe less polished than what we are used to with Valentino.
2i think they did better before. D:
3Not too bad...
4Ok maybe it's a little safe and also looks more like YSL than Valentino, but it is a beautiful collection. Valentino's past collection were more mature in my opinion but at the end this is a logical thing. Alessandra is young and maybe she wants to give the label some of her personality and were she is right now...and if you ask me Valentino, the label, really needed a change like this...And even if I used to like more what she did for Gucci than this collection, I have high hopes for her future collections, she's a really talented girl
5Oh and another thing, I can only imagine how it would feel to be in her shoes right now, so lets not judge to girl too much
6I think it's beautiful!!
7Valentino. ♥
8I really like the collection. It's still very elegant but it has a twist. I think when a young designer has to fill the shoes of a legend it's only better they do it with their vision rather than duplicating the past.
9What an impossible situation for her! I think it was a fine first showing.
10I love that yellow dress..
