As we hoped, Lauren Conrad stepped up her game for her first runway showing and Fall collection for The Lauren Conrad Collection. And, to our excitement, all her friends were there to share in her glory.
In the front row sat Whitney, Audrina, Lo, Kristin, Brody and Frankie — all giddy and excited to be at Smashbox Studios. FabSugar was on the other side of the runway amidst Lauren's family (funny huh?). We sat next to her grandmother and had some words with her mom and sister. They were very proud and thought the show was fabulous. When asked what her sis's favorite piece was, she said the strapless ivory ruffle dress (pictured) — very cute indeed. Very Lauren!

The French flair — berets, leather gloves, and chic pumps — added a certain je ne sai quoi to the collection, and helped create the girl Lauren is trying to convey. These pieces were an improvement from what we've seen from Lauren thus far; some were the casual cute pieces we know, some were form-fitting and flirtatious and will want to get to know. The palette was autumnal: ivory, terra cotta, plum, olive green, and there was plenty of black, Lauren's self-proclaimed favorite color. High waisted skirts, a zippy botanical print and lace were new additions. Let's put it this way: there was less bubble and more bodacious.
These are clearly clothes Lauren and her posse want to wear so my question is: Do you want to wear them too?

Splendid
I must say, her collection is really good. The clothes are wearable and looks comfortable. I was not a fan of her line but now I'm starting to like her clothes.
1honestly i thought her line would be crappy but these actually look nice. They're not vavavoom designs but I'd wear a lot of them. great job LC:)
2Lauren is definitely all about the fabric. I love how she is not afraid to show of her style through the clothes she designs. WTG LC!
3Yea, I'll admit it's looking good. The clothing is stuff I'd wear... too bad I can't afford it.
4I'm sorry but -- It's unreal boring. After seeing the Project Runway finale, this is ridiculous. Ok ok so go ahead and sell it, but it by no means does it rank a full fashion show...
There's nothing here I couldn't get somewhere else.
Cheaper.
5I've seen this before but I still like a lot of the pieces! Just one question: Why all the leggings???
6this is student work and not at its best, lacks creativity, nothing I haven't seen before, but she's young and there's potential...
7anyone of us commenting can design this, it's plain and uninspiring.
You'd think with all the time she has on her hands, going to design school, working at Teen Vogue - being exposed to so many clothes, designer shows and interesting photo shoots, she could come up with something more creative.
I have nothing against simple designs (Calvin Klein, Jil Sander are some of my favourites to look to for inspiration) however this is sooo bland
8OMG, borrr-ring. There is nothing new here. Sure, not all designers have to be innovative but just wearable. But a show at LA Fashion Week would've required some level of originality?
I agree completely with i_love_miu - where is the creativity?
I would've felt so completely ripped off if I were at that show!
9Lauren did an amazing job for her first fashion show. A mark improvement in her designs. I am sure many haters will call her line boring and lack of creativity, but it is not the case at all. Her use of fabric and cut is where we see her most creativity. Plus, they are totally flattering to the female body. The last two posts claiming that they can design a collection like lauren is straight up lying to themselves. She studied her art and will only get better with age and experience. Love the clothes.
10It's pretty simple so overall I'd wear it.
11I would never give money to this wannabe.
12I think for her first time out, it's good. Lauren's never put herself out there as a Christian-type designer so comparing her to ProjRun is off.
I commend her for doing something other than reality tv. For me, it shows that she is serious about it and I bet she will only improve with time.
13She's getting better! The clothes are very pretty. I'd definitely wear them! I think it's good for a first collection.
14I wasn't really a fan of her collection.. But most of these clothes look really good.. to bad that they are to expensive, I would definitely wear some of them.. Great job LC
15It is a simple collection, but I was actually surprised by how impressed I was. The dresses especially were nice, and the berets helped with the overall image. But some of the pieces, leggings with simple blouses???? that is not a look I will think is "fashion show material"...I know its LA fashion week, but still..
16It's cute. I'm not really a fan, so am actually impressed with some of the designs.
17It's better than I expected but I still feel like it should say "Rachel Pally" up there rather than Lauren Conrad. I feel like I've seen all of these pieces before. Regurgitating in fashion is fine, but really a designer's debut runway collection shouldn't feel quite so tired and boring.
There's nothing inspired about this at all, and, Sabrina, I'm not saying that because I'm "a hater", but just as you don't want to see people who dislike LC trash her collection for the sake of it, I think it's pretty pathetic of you to assume that everyone who likes her should be calling this a triumph. Surely there is room for an unbiased critique, no?
18Nothing too special...
19I'm not a hater either, but you have to question her presence in fashion week - Yes the clothes are pretty and she IS getting better and better but so are every other design student. Should she really show at a fashion week just yet?? I like her style and I'm sure that she'll become a great designer but this isn't like high school, she should give her spot to an established LA designer who has an actual unique design skill
20
21i think its better than her summer collection however- as i stated on pop i think, they are stylish cotton dresses- that's it. nothing special or intricate or detailed that warrants a runway show. a party with some models walking around would have been just fine. i think her stuff is wearable but lets not pretend its this fantastic designed stuff.
and kiki tee you are right- its totally rachel pally inspired
22I have to say I am not impressed at all. You can find similar pieces for under $20 at forever 21. I think that the designers from project runway are more deserving than she is. When will her 15 mins of fame be up??
23I like when I see a collection that I can seriously wear!!! I have never understood the weird designs designers come up with that no one can wear. That is not creative to me, that stuff is creepy. To me, anyone can throw crap together and some stupid person would call it fashionably creative. I just don't get it. You, Go Lauren!! Your collection is great.
24
25Uninspiring.
26It was cute, I also thought her collection was going to be crappy but overall its was nice. I also agree with those who said that you can find, if not all then, most of her pieces at the mall. It was just a cute line - she has a long way to go.
27I actually follow fashion and looked at the other designers showing at LA fashion week, and Lauren was one of the strong one as well as Nicky Hilton's. There were a few but most were horrible. Lauren def deserve to be in LA fashion week, if it was NY that would have been a different story. Either way, the collection was great for her first time and she is very young. She will only get better with age.
28Does LC actually design? Or does she just say 'yes' or 'no' to designs put in front of her?
29I'm not hatin', just asking...
really ugly. are these for sale at walmart?
30Are we really looking at the same clothes? That is some fugly uninteresting CRAP!
Fab are you being kind with your reviews so you can stay close to LC? Because seriously you had harsher words about real fashion from NY Fashion Week (Marc Jacobs). Yet no real review of LC's crap. Shame on you for losing any objectivity.
31I think some of her dresses are really cute and wearable, but they are OVERPRICED and I think I'd be a bit embarrassed at this point to have a 'Lauren Conrad' label in my closet !
32*snore* couldn't agree more that there's nothing new here. And I thought legging were finally falling behind us again.
juliex0x0, I'd definitely be a bit embarrassed to be found with a "Lauren Conrad" label in my closet, or on me!
33Colorblocked Jersey and simple silhouettes. How original.
Why would anyone buy this? It looks like it comes from Forever21. Furthermore, the styling is absolutely lame. There is nothing creativity or revolutionary about a beret and belt at the waist.
I hope Lauren Conrad has other 'projects' to fall back on.
34what i like about this line that she showed at the fashion show are things that can actually be worn on a daily basis...someone above compared it to Project Runway stuff...PR stuff for the MOST part are things that a 'normal/average' person could wear!
35I would wear them, but I don't think I would buy them
36cute stuff but nothing you cannot buy elsewhere already
37ok I couldn't help myself. I put together a post about this collection especially the idea that you can buy it anywhere else already... http://teamsugar.com/user/syako/blog/1112116
38As much as I love the Hills, I'm not digging this. Nor am I digging those leggings.
39I actually am interested in going into the fashion bussiness so my opinion isnt based upon the fact the i love 'the hills'. The collection was average; basically what i expected from a young reality tv star. The clothes were very simply. basic, and wearable, which is a far cry from the other lines presented in fashion week thus far. Overal I really did love this collection. Another great collection that suprised me was Nicky Hiltons designs, very similar to Laurens, and very fairy-tale esc. BTW those leggings make me wanna throw up, not a fan.
40Very simple but cute. I like it but don't think I want to fork out a bundle to buy from her line when I know I can get the same look for much much less.
41I still think it's completely boring and uninspired.
42Absolutely gorgeous. She's come a long way from the O.C.
43well she must have gotten that inspiration from her trip to France last fall!
& um, i might wear some of the items just to finish off an outfit, but i don't find it all that complex. her designs are somewhat boring and like what everyone else is doing...
44this things will be easy fund in f21 or macys or even Walmart, for muchhhh les money, her lack for creativity is boring , she is not a fashion designer, i dont think she really has a future in this
45Since when is LA Fashion Week relevant? It just seems like a bunch of glorified reality stars and celebutards showcasing unoriginal and (often) tacky ideas. Do people honestly care about an event that showcases such gems as "Pussycat Dolls by Robin Antin"????
46I don't hate it, but I don't like it either. The choices she made are very safe ones, the collection is a little boring. I do love the assemetrical things she designed.
47It's really not that creative...very plain and boring...she totally couldn't be fiece on Project, just saying
48Hmmm...are we seriously calling this a F-A-S-H-I-O-N show?? I am not sure, but working in the fashion world I would think one would have a better grasp on what it's all about. I actually just dozed off a little looking through the pics. I mean, since we're apparantly letting anyone with money put on a show how about we call up the team at Forever21 and give them a spot in the tent at Bryant Park! And don't get me wrong, Forever21 can come in handy on occassion, but at least they now their place and don't dare act as if they are true fashion designers...c'mon!
49Oh, and did they say that girl Kristin something was sitting in the front row...yeah, keep claiming that show is real girls!
