Last week it was Avril Lavigne, and this week it's Rachel Bilson joining the celebrity designer foray.
Rachel contacted DKNY Jeans to express an interest in working with them, and that's how her junior sportswear line, Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans, came about. The collection will include 15 pieces when it launches in September, including button-down tops, sweaters, jackets, tees, dresses, and dark wash jeans in a black, white, and yellow color palette.
Rachel seems dedicated to her designs: "This line is my main focus right now," she said. "I can't draw at all, so I won't be doing any sketches, but I am learning to sew. I think it's important to know more about the whole process of making clothes."
She named the line for her grandmother Edie, and Rose, a close family friend, because she didn't want to use her own name: "I want people to see these clothes for what they are, not just another line designed by another celebrity," she said. "I want the line to be taken seriously." From these first looks, will you be taking it seriously?

YES! I'm excited about this. I ADORE Rachel and I LOVE her style. I hope she doesn't disappoint but I don't think she will.
1Yeah, I think it could turn out well. She obviously has a great sense of style, even if she doesn't have a lot of design experience per se.
2i would probably wear everything in the line. it looks really good so far. can't wait till it comes out!
3Looks good
4I like the clothes, very Rachel
5Loving the yellow dress...I am excited for this collection.
6I love RBils. I love her own clothing style and I've actually tried a couple times to emmulate it. I think it's great that she's coming out with a line of her own, and that she's excited about learning about the clothing process and separating herself from other celebrity "designers".
7i'm tired of all the celeb designers! but that said i will wait til i see a whole collection to judge
8Ditto megln. The celeb designer thing is getting old. Some of it's OK when they seem to have a "cause" (I use that them loosely) like SJP with her fashion is not a luxury & Natalie Portman with her vegan shoes, but Avril Lavigne? For real? Even Rachel Bilson. I mean, I love her style, but that doesn't necessarily translate into being able to design. That said, I do like that yellow dress.
9I like the looks posted here. I'm excited to see what the rest of the line looks like.
10I will definitely want to try on that yellow dress!
11Great!
12Oh yeah, I'm excited for this! I love Rachel Bilson and am obsessed with her style!
That yellow dress is fab.
13I love her and her style is so cute and not too fussy which I like. The line looks pretty basic so far but that's good and the black white yellow combo makes me very happy. Good Luck!
14Ok I love love love Rachel and her sense of style, but if she "cant draw at all" and wont be doing any sketches, how can she really call this her line? I understand that there are other elements and components of the design process that she will partake in but no sketching..hmm when someone else is doing the sketching it really doesnt become ur own vision..still, i will be buying her line so whatever lol
15Looove the collection so far. I simply adore her style, so effortless and chic. With all the celebrity designers creating affordable collections it seems weird that price $$ is not discussed in the article. Any idea ?
16yes i will take it seriously and even buy some of it!
17shes got great style so i assume her designs will be amazing also. : )
While the clothes look well-made and probably are, they're not very original. Also, to Marni7, I agree. If she can't sketch at all, then how is this collection hers? I suppose someone else is sketching out her ideas for her, but still...
18Everything is very very wearable, very cute, very reminiscent of her style...BUT also not very original or stand-out enough for me to want to purchase it. Perhaps if they go on sale...
I dig it!
19Why don't they save time and money and just hire her stylist???
20Like I said on the other post about this... nice that someone with actual fashion sense is designing clothes, rather than Lauren Conrad designing new bin sacks to wear and idiotic prices... with her lack of fashion sense (sorry but she looks pretty junky to me as a brit :/ ). Jeans are for everybody, not just for anorexics with no curves living in LA.
21Rachel has great style, I'm sure the line will be simple but great.
22Why is a celebrity style line ONLY okay if it's Rachel?
23Not all designers know how to draw, I think that those who don't compose a sort of collage of ideas and so on. So even though, Rachel doesn't know how to draw I can see her pulling out ideas and trying to get them across to the people with whom she is working.
So many other celebrities have jumped on the band wagon that it's hard to take it seriously and it has become annoying. However, there are a few celebrities I respect; #1 and #2 are Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani. Jennifer was the first of the set to go into, and Gwen because she has great taste, was an art major in college, has a style that has evolved and lastly before it was widely available she did not want it to be mass produced and you could only purchase items at specialty boutiques.
After that I like SJP wanting to make her line available to people, respect Natalie Portman and the vegan shoes. And I have a soft spot for Mandy Moore, and lastly, I think I could like RBils line...but I'll wait to see (oh, and yea I do like that yellow dress and the tights with it.)
Again, I would say Jennifer and Gwen are the original in the whole celebrity designer thing. Hands down.
24I love Rachel and her style!
25PUH-LEASE.... Why is it that every celebrity thinks they are multi-talented geniuses? Actress/singer, singer/model, model/actress, actress/designer.
slash slash slash...
26Looks cute so far...
27Loving the collection so far! Hope i can somehow get a hold of a few pieces as i'm in Australia! Love Rachel Bilson!
28Because Uptown girl - a lot of times they are! Creativity can flow in many directions. Why should anyone feel they must limit themselves to one outlet? It doesn't mean they think they are multi-talented geniuses, they just have a creative interest! and they're already famous for one thing which means they have connections which means it's easy for them to try different things and try to make them more than hobbies!
29So.. she can't sketch, can't draw, and her stylist probably creates her "personal style".
Come on... her name's attached to the project. It may be called "Edie Rose" but you can bet "Rachel Bilson" will be prominently featured.
I've never really seen anything from Rachel Bilson that screams "she so unique she should share her style with the masses".
Give some real designers a chance.
30love them, waiting for more! =D
31recently there was some comparsing to the yellow dress on fashionsta apparently she cpoied the same dress but it was green with gomments around the neck apparently she copies and redesigns her clothing line what a fake.
