To me, Prada is one of the most iconic fashion brands. Miuccia Prada is a true innovator and has changed the face of Italian fashion. While brands like Gucci, Versace, and Missoni exude sex appeal, Prada made minimalism chic. Always with an underlying utilitarian vibe - she did make the backpack a coveted high fashion accessory - Miuccia is always ahead of the curve.
That said, what do you all think of her Spring/Summer '07 campaign shot by Steven Meisel and featuring model Sasha Pivovarova? Prada was one of the leaders of the headgear trend and she has taken satin and made it a completely wearable fabric. The shadows create a mystique - Sasha looks like she's peering into a far off, exotic land. And the brown oversized fringed handbag plays a big part too, offsetting the sleek, fluid lines of the satin ensemble. While I don't like that Prada always features models that look like mannequins, to me, this fab ad looks like a modern bouquet of exotic flowers.

1Yay! My favorite model. This picture was my avatar for a while and I love Prada ads. I have to admit that I do not love the clothes or the bag.

10Is it me or does the photoshopping make it resemble a Tamara de Lempicka painting? Wonder if this is intentional? It is quite pleasant to look at but not as innovative as one might hope.

12This ad would be more thought provoking for me if they used a mannequin INSTEAD of a model.
The style of the bag is too stark of a contrast from the styling of the model and the rest of the ad. Just doesn't work for me. If it was just her though, maybe.
