PortaMEe is the latest and greatest revolution in baby carriers. I know what you are thinking: why is this on FabSugar - because this new mommy accessory is where style meets function! Only sold in high end specialty department stores and boutiques, PortaMEe, $198, is for the chic Mom who wants her hands free so she can hang with baby and browse through shopping racks.
After speaking with the passionate and enthusiastic Jennifer Gilbert, founder of PortaMEe, I was able to get a much better sense for each of the well thought out and practical features on the carrier.
This hands free, stylish and noninvasive carrier has unique ergonomic lumbar support made from steel rods to reduce back pain. It's like wearing a weightlifting belt.
This simple feature immensely helps distribute the weight of your child away from your shoulders and tender ta ta's. It also promotes bonding between mommy and baby because unlike other popular carries, it allows you to see your child's face. The carrier can be used for children up to 35 lbs.

- A honeycomb gel padded shoulder strap provides comfort. The strap also includes a pocket for easy access to your cell phone and keys.
- A hooded cape adds additional warmth for your baby. All you have to do is unsnap the cape when you get inside if your child becomes hot. This is unique because unlike other carriers, you don't have to remove the baby to remove a layer.
- Attached to the center of the carrier is a zippered flap that securely holds valuables such as your wallet or Blackberry.
- A bottle carrier accessory that attaches onto the back of the carrier holds 6, 8 and 12 oz bottles including the extra wide Avent bottle. This is available for purchase separately ($15).

TWO HUNDRED BUCKS FOR THAT?!?!?!?!?!?
1Good Lord.
that's very cool!
2i would get one, i dont have a baby but my sister in laws would love this and it looks very comfy!
That looks very cool!
3Save your shoulders and back and get the ERGO instead. I am 5'3 and my husband is 6'3. We both found the Portamee EXTREMELY uncomfortable after 20 mins of wear, with our 23 lbs son. We found it was more comfortable to just carry our baby without a sling. Then I discovered the ERGO carrier. It is absolutely perfect. Ergonomically correct and offers a wide range of colors to choose from. Now I know why in a walking city such as New York I see ERGO carriers everywhere and I have never seen a Portamee sling other than the one I bought. Eventually I got a refund from the Owners but it took a lot of waiting for them to retun my call (couple of months) and also it took posting some honest reviews online that obviously got their attention more quickly than my call to them did.
4I just saw the above comment and I had to respond.
5I'm also 5'3" , an average size Mom in Chicago and I bought the Portamee at a boutique in my neighborhood.
I have a bunch a slings, an ERGO and a Baby Bjorn but now I just use the Portamee.
I think this thing is really great and super comfy.
I now can ditch the diaper bag and just put my stuff in all the attached pockets.
i would love to see more comments like the two above.......because i am pretty much deciding between the portamee and the ergo.
6If you want to carry you baby comfortably and without a diaper bag - get the portamee.
if you want to look like bohemian mommy - get the ergo.
I originally had the bjorn which was only good for us for the first 6 months.
I then had an ergo but i couldn't stand wearing my daughter on my back...and it was never really designed to be worn on the hip.
I finally got the portamee because I wanted some back support and I wanted to go out without the kitchen sink of a diaper bag.
The portamee has been a life saver.
7I cannot rave enough about it. My husband 6'2" uses it on the weekends.
We have the new chocolate brown one.
