If you are a blonde (whether natural or not) like me, you know that your roots can start to look a little greasy if you don't wash your hair every day. A cool tip that I learned that I wanted to pass along is that a little dash of Baby Powder can help absorb the oils.

So, the next time you don't have time to wash and dry your hair before running out the door, just sprinkle a little powder and you are good to go! Johnson's Baby Powder available here for $5.29.
Ha ha, just don't go too far or you'll start looking like George Washington!
1i've heard that one years ago.never tried it though.
2Translucent loose powder (the kind you use on your face) along the hairline works well too...and there's less of a chance of it looking too white!
3I have dark hair and have used baby powder before. It doesn't make it white, it just absorbs the oil if you rub it in. However, it does leave my hair kind of staticky flat. It shouldn't be used as a substitute for washing your hair.
4so it's ok for dark hair too?
5Yes, just make sure to rub it in well.
6Wow - I've never heard this! I have dark blonde hair and I try not to wash it every day but I feel like I have to bc it usually looks greasy if I don't. I bought a spray a few years back that was supposed to do the same thing but it dried my hair out so I tossed it.
I'm so excited! Thanks for the tip!
7They used to do this in hospitals. Nurses would powder the hair of patients who couldn't get out of bed to bathe. Not sure if they still do it, though. Yeah. Anyway...
8I know Bumble & Bumble makes tinted powders for us brunettes - but I've yet to try it. What about dry shampoos? I've heard they're not worth it though.
9doesn't that leave white s--- in your hair?
10This seems too strange for me.
I would think like EP that it would like white stuff in your hair or a build up of sticky stuff.
I am not blonde so I could not even try this out.
11Lol, it really does work, but I wouldn't reccommend it unless u were really desparate, like if a friend suddenly calls u up 2 go out & u haven't washed ur hair, but yeah always check in the mirror to make sure its not visable!
12For girls with dark hair (like myself), it will leave a sort of grayish/whitish tint in the hair, so I baby-powder my hair at night and sleep on it. In the morning, it's been absorbed and is not longer visible, but the hair has no traces of grease in it at all. Apply to the front and hair part. Just put enough powder to cover the surface of your hand and apply directly onto your roots, nowhere else (don't apply to the body, dur). There will be some powder-flying action. Wash your hands after so you don't get white powder marks on dark materials. It's a great way to achieve healthy hair, since you don't need to wash your hair out everyday. :]
13haha. i do this all the time. i don't shower on weekends, so i use it on saturday and sunday. no one ever notices, in fact i get compliments on my hair a lot. not showering really does make your hair look healthier in the long run. baby powder is a great alternative. but be sure to wash up with a cloth everyday. but make note of the fact that i am blonde. back when my hair was dyed black i tried this and it made me look gray.
hope this helped. :]
14No, god no. My mother is old enough to be my grandmother, and when I was little, she used to put this very same powder in my hair often, instead of washing it or letting me wash it myself. IT DOES NOT WORK! It makes a god-awful mess no matter how much you rub/comb/brush it in, and it doesn't do anything but make your hair plait-like.
She actually sent me to school with these horrible powder treatments, and one day on the bus home, a kid started flicking at my hair to annoy me. She then saw some of the powder on my scalp and started screaming "OH GOD, WHAT IS THAT WHITE CRAP? YOU HAVE LICE OH GOD OH GOD". I had to reassure her I was fine, it was just that my mother was quite possibly crazy and didn't like shampoo or something. How utterly terrible.
Needless to say, that was the very last day I complied with my mom's powder crap.
Just wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner.
15i just used it. i like it alot. baby powder works well and i have red and black hair. lol.
16This trick for it is to sprinkle some on top, then blow dry and brush it out at the same time. It will take a bit to get it all out, but it helps.
17It works great. if you get to much just wet your hands or a comb and blow dry it alittle. Washing your hair to much will damage it so this is a great way to make it a day or so and save your hair some damage! When you do wash it use some baking soda mixed with your shampoo to remove any build up.
