I hate to hate on an Olsen, so Mary-Kate, why must you do this to me? While Leighton Meester and Margherita Missoni attended New Year's in April looking more stunning than ever, MK showed up looking, well, like this.
I have two problems with this ensemble and I think you can guess what they are. Let's start with the least of her worries, the floor-length Missoni dress. It's a beautiful dress, but not for such a petite girl like Mary-Kate. For the first time in my life, I have to say she looks large. Add on the '80s-inspired Marc Jacobs jazzercise headband and it moves into silly territory. What do you say?

4Maybe if she had the dress cut below the vertical band so it wasn't so big on her it would be better. I don't mind the headband really, it wouldn't be the Olsen twins without some weird accessory.
5It's weird that after years of hiding her body in immense clothing to hide the fact that she was anorexic, she's obviously gained weight and still doing it. Frankly I do not like the way she dresses. There's a very so-what? style to it like she's trying too hard to be edgy. Ashley's style is so much better.
6I can't understand that why with so much money she continues to have no fashion-sense. Not everything is made for everyone's body.

10I am all for free expression and personal style, but this look isn't doing anything for MK. The dress is unflattering and, I hate to say it, but the headband looks like something that someone with schizophrenia would wear. Normally I am a fan of MK and her off-beat, idiosyncratic sense of style. She's fun to watch and she comes up with some great and inspired looks. This look, however, hurts to look at.

12I hate this whole thing with people judging fashion as right and wrong. Wear what you want and who cares is a bunch of people don't like it., If you want to wear a Marc Jacobs headband with Missoni go for it. Enjoy fashion don't over think it.

The MOST offensive thing to me about this outfit is the DESIGNER HEADBAND. she could have tied a pair of panty hose around her head and looked just the same, but she probably paid waaaay more than she should have for that :/

I know she went to college, but has Mary-Kate taken any art classes? I would certainly think so, with her interest in fashion, but.... I swear art concepts help when putting outfits together, so outfits like this don't happen. And if they still manage to, they look a little better, more coordinated. Unless she wants to look like she's getting eaten by a monster (dress) and has a tiny head (black headband doesn't help).
But hey, it makes a statement, and we're all looking at her now, aren't we?

the dress would look better as a mini dress and at least half the length of the sleeves cut off (with those large sleeves her arms look like stubs)

27This is unspeakably terrible. The headband does not even need to be addressed. As for the dress: I'm Mary Kate's size, and, contrary to what one might think based on her wardrobe, there are clothes out there that fit petite girls. If the clothes she wants don't fit, she can have them tailored! There is no excuse for wearing the functional equivalent of some very expensive sacks.
