technically it wasnt a bridesmaid dress, it was a flowergirls dress, so it was about 10yrs ago and it was for a school play, i was part of the kings court
i have not re-worn any of my dresses (all of them have gone to the consignment store down the street); however, i have seen and heard about more than half of my bridesmaids wearing theirs a
second time. J.crew is classic
I was supposed to be a bridesmaid once, but my friend canceled her engagement...however, I did get stuck with the dress (that I payed for and couldn't return)...it's sitting in my closet and
I have yet to figure out what to do with it.
I have 2 bridesmaid dresses collecting dust in my closet so far and am about to buy another one later this year. The first one was lavender (which does not look good with my skin tone, but
purple is my friend's favorite color) and the other one is a strapless two-piece. I don't like strapless and the skirt is a floor-length one with pick-ups, not really the kind you can wear
out. I have high hopes for the third dress being reusable, but I'm not counting on it.
I have an ivory and champagne colored floor length dress that is not rewearable simply based on the color, and I have a tea-length strapless black dress that you would think would be
rewearable... but it isn't so much. Most bridesmaids dresses are that shiny satin that is not really flattering or casual enough to wear out to a normal place. I don't mind them being
unwearable again if they are not that expensive, but one wear out of a $150+ dress is just sad.
I really thought I chose a dress my BMs could re-wear (prob w/ a different shoe- maybe a matte, strappy, silver heel), but I haven't seen or heard of any of them re-wearing.
I have a beautiful crimson strapless, corseted (sp?), floor length gown from my best friend's wedding six years ago (I was the maid of honor!) that I would love to wear again. but I haven't
had an opportunity ... it's very fancy and I'm not getting many invites to fancy balls and dinners these days
Ive been a bridesmaid like 10 times. Ive never reworn any of the dresses EXCEPT two of them, both of which were made by Nicole Miller. They're gorgeous! A little more expensive than most
bridesmaid dresses, but worth it, since Ive worn them again..
The gown I wore in my brother's wedding when I was a Jr. in HS is also the gown I wore to a friends prom a couple of weeks later.
That's the only time I've been a bridesmaid, I've been a witness to sign the marriage certificate but they didn't have formal bridesmaides etc at the wedding so it's not like I stood up there
with the bride, therefore no need for a gown. As a matter of fact it wasn't until after the minister performed the ceremony that the bride asked me to be her witness, so I didn't know ahead
of time.
I've been a Bridesmaid four times. I haven't reworn any of the dresses yet. One of them I could with alteration (I'd probably shorten it), one I could for a really formal event (it's very
elegant and evening-y), one I wouldn't rewear because the color just isn't flattering on my skin tone (light lavender, I should really just donate it) and one I *might* rewear as-is. It's a
black, tea-length strapless dress with a full-ish skirt. It just has an odd fit that I wouldn't have chosen myself, but looked ok...I think. I just feel like I should rewear it because it was
from JCrew and cost more than twice what I paid for any other bridesmaid dress I've worn.
It would take a long time for me to want to wear a bridesmaid dress again. I'd just feel weird and worry that I'd run into a wedding guest or worse the bride and groom and they'd think I was
really cheap.
I let me bridesmaid pick out their own dress but I picked the color and fabric, which is champagne so I hope they can all wear it again, even if they wanted to dye it black, they picked the
actual dress, so they should be comfortable wearing it again
my best friend made us wear these truely fugly peptol bismal pink stapless dresses. i mean it's the ugliest this ive ever worn. i still have it because of sentimental value but it will never
touch my body again.
now my sister in law picked out the most gorgeous and wearable bridesmaid dresses ever! they are a vibrant turqouiseish blue and knee lenth strapless kind of beachy looking dress. terrible
description but they were gorgeous at the sunset beach wedding and i'm just itching to wear it again. just have to find the right shoes since we all went barefoot for the wedding.
I took the A-line full-length strapless gown from my best friend's wedding and shortened it to cocktail length and added a high empire ribbon.
I've worn this to a couple of parties. Now I am going to deconstruct the large panels on the dress for wall art/quilt/pillow pieces since that friend is having a baby girl and I want part of
that dress material in her nursery.
jamieLeah I don't think anyone would think you are cheap! Most people are in the same boat and don't want them to go to waste!
I've used dresses as costumes afterward--sad I know. But I'm helping pick out a friends bridesmaids dresses and I hope its something I can wear again!
Good grief no! They all think they can be worn again and they never are - well, it does happen but it's rare. But, I figure, it's the brides day, she can do whatever she wants and I'll go
with it, no matter how much I may hate the dress. If it's beautiful to her then, that's all that matters.
I haven't, but my BMs have! I said I wanted them all in black dresses that were knee to tea length. They got dresses that fit their bodies and at least one has been able to reuse hers!
Another got hers for like 15 bucks, so I think it was win/win for everyone!
When I was 5 or 6 I had a nice green flower girl dress made in a very soft velvet fabric that I got for my uncle wedding. The wedding was in October and so right after the wedding my mother
did some alteration to turn it into a "princess dress" for Halloween.
I also had other flower girl or bride maid dresses that I was able to wear again after some alterations. When it's possible with wedding style and bride choices, I try to choose dresses
keeping in mind the idea of re-using it even if it implies to make some alterations. As those dresses can be expensive, I hate the idea of buying it to wear only once.
As much money as I've plunked down on bridesmaid dresses - you're darned tooting that I'm going to wear 'em again if at all possible! I have a beautiful navy blue floor length with a white
organza bow on the back with some heavy lace on the bodice that I have been able to wear to a couple of formal events again - yay! Another I was able to wear to a fancy Christmas party. And
another was actually my Homecoming dress that I was able to wear to a friend's wedding, hehe.
Lol the asnwer is yes, one is gorgeous and i have reworn it multiple times like 4 times and the other i cut up and used as a costume. Go that poodle skirt!!!
Long story short, I wore mine to my high school prom. No regrets, not to mention I saved $700 . It was a beautiful dress, and it would have been a shame to at least not get to wear it once more. I guess it was lucky to be the only bridesmaid in high school, or else I never
would have worn it again.

1nope. They are all in my closet collecting dust.
2I would, with minor alterations.
3i've never been a bridesmaid... i just wanted to say that i LOVE the pic you chose for this post!
4I've never been a bridesmaid either...but I get to next spring!
5i have not re-worn any of my dresses (all of them have gone to the consignment store down the street); however, i have seen and heard about more than half of my bridesmaids wearing theirs a second time. J.crew is classic
6I've never been a bridesmaid.

8I got a sari as a bridesmaid, and it's too short to wear again. I might pass it along to my little sister.
9it is my goal in life to find a bridesmaid dress my girls can wear again....
10I've never been to a wwedding! (well one when I was like 5-6 but I dont' rememeber!)
11I have 2 bridesmaid dresses collecting dust in my closet so far and am about to buy another one later this year. 12One would have had to be a bridesmaid in order to have this option...I think I need to make more friends...
13I refuse to be a bridesmaid for anyone. I'm not into weddings. I don't even want to get married. Everyone I know understands and respects this.
14I have an ivory and champagne colored floor length dress that is not rewearable simply based on the color, and I have a tea-length strapless black dress that you would think would be rewearable... but it isn't so much. 15I re-wore a tea length, burgundy JCrew dress.

17hehe i wore one from my cousin's wedding as a costume in a show once.

23No...and I have 7 of them! Just don't know where I'd wear them...most bridesmaid dresses don't translate well to other occasions.
24I let me bridesmaid pick out their own dress but I picked the color and fabric, which is champagne so I hope they can all wear it again, even if they wanted to dye it black, they picked the actual dress, so they should be comfortable wearing it again

29No, never. I have two, but as neither lilac nor magenta satin are particularly flattering on me, I will never wear them again.
It seems so many brides choose light purple bridesmaid dresses- WHY? Is it to match the floral arrangements?
30i did
31I haven't, but my BMs have! I said I wanted them all in black dresses that were knee to tea length. They got dresses that fit their bodies and at least one has been able to reuse hers! Another got hers for like 15 bucks, so I think it was win/win for everyone!
32I've been a bridesmaid twice, and I've reworn one of the dresses. The other is very very bright pink, and not my style at all!

I have never worn my bridesmaid dress again. She picked lime green and bright pink, it's not very cute.
