A Fab reader has a dilemma and when a Fab reader has a dilemma, Fab runs to her rescue. Said reader's ped socks, like these Gap Classic Loafer Peds ($7), constantly show when she wears ballet flats. I have no doubt that more of you have this problem. I know I used to. She's searched far and wide for an inexpensive solution, but no luck yet . . . until now!

Like I said before, I used to have this problem all the time. Frustrated, one day I grabbed a pair of scissors, and started snipping my peds problems away. Here's how you can, too.
- Grab a pair of scissors sharp enough to cut nylon.
- Wear your ped socks.
- Now put on the ballet flats you normally wear your peds with.
- Sit down or get in a squatting position where you can easily reach your feet.
- Take the scissors and start slowly (and carefully) cutting the parts of the peds that are visible with your ballet flats on. Snip until peds disappear.
- Do the same for the other foot. Voilá!
Chances are your peds now have jagged lines from your amateur cutting; no one will see them so no need to be anal. You may need to buy a different pair for each ballet flat you own, but if most of yours are similar, you can get away with using the same peds for each one.

I didn't even realize that people wore peds with ballet flats. I've never heard of anyone doing this before.
1i have a different problem, that your snipping solution would only worsen --> whenever i wear peds with my ballet slippers or other flats, as i walk the back elastic always slips off my heel and half the ped ends up scrunched underneath my foot.
is this just me?!!
2Thanks!!!
3I've had peds slip off inside the shoe, too! I hate it when that happens. Can't someone make a low cut (toe cleavage)ped that is higher in the back?
4just put baby powder in them. they slide in =0)
5and u dont get stinky feet
Peds almost always slip off my heel too! It is sooooo frustrating (and uncomfortable!)
6I hate it when this happens too. My solution is just cuting the tow of the peds.. because that is the only real problem.. i cant wear the full peds cause then my flats slip off.. and cutting around will loosed the elastic that they jumble up... so I just vut the toe part.. with a little elastic..
7I also don't do peds with ballet flats. I actually try to buy a half size smaller in flats so there's no slipping. like saritabonita said... a little baby powder and you're good to go.
8i didnt know about the peds either....i like the baby powder idea though
9i bought a pair of peds and they looked ugly because they popped out of my ballet shoes. im sure about snipping them since i've been wearing ballet shoes with no socks and just talcum powder.
10im *not* sure
11Instead of baby powder which can be messy, use spray-on deodorant. It comes in pleasant scents or unscented, and it has the same effect without getting everywhere. Plus it doesn't wear off as quickly. It's also good with shoes that give you blisters. I can't stand peds! They slip off my heel and drive me crazy!
12I just buy the ones from Target. They're a lot cheaper too. I can't wear flats w/o them.
13i never wear peds/ped-type footies....i tried them once and i didn't care for the seam on the bottom of the foot....annoying!
14I think i will cut mine too, talc just leaves shoes with a white film even on the outside.
15Thanks!!
16I suggest getting the insoles from Aldo Shoes. It has padding with terry cloth (machine washable). It absorbs all the sweat like socks would. They come in white and black. They feel so good on your feet. It's like wearing socks only on the bottom of your feet. Plus it won't show like ped socks would. I recommended this insoles to my friends and co-workers and they all looooooved it. They went and bought 10! I have the insoles on all my ballet flats, and heels.
17Hue makes a variety of styled peds for different shoes. I bought 3 kinds, but haven't tried them all yet.

Actually, I used to wear peds for a while with this problem, and I felt like a grandmother! But I found an even better solution then snipping them. If the sweat from your feet makes it hard to walk, check out a company Summer Soles that makes great inserts that absorb sweat. You can cut them to your size shoe, they come in many colors, and you can take them out too if you don't like them. I think the site is summersoles.com. I heart them for my ballet flats and slippery sandals!!

I use these instead, in the cute polka dot color. LOVE them
20oh and they are washable
21I buy cheap pantiliners from Target or Walmart and stick those in my flats; they're the perfect size and disposable.
22Had no idea about the peds!
23I never thought of wearing peds. But I cant wear ballet slippers my foot slips out the back everytime and if I get them a half size smaller then my toes are crushed... =(
24I never wear peds with my flats (and no stinky feet!!!).
25thanks for the info!
26when i started to wear ballet flats, i also started to wear peds since i wasn't used to flats at first (i'm more of a wedge person). i stopped using peds now since all my flats have worn out so it doesn't give me blisters anymore!
I am seeing a lot of girls wearing peds in cute patterns and letting them show. It looks pretty cool, actually, it reminds me of matting in a frame.
27Ugh I was just thinking about how annoying peds are when I came across this - unfortunately there seems to be no alternative on the market for blizters & such other than peds!
28How would cutting them work though? Wouldn't you end up cutting off the elastic part of the peds, meaning they would no longer hold onto your foot? I thought of sewing the ped into the shoe along the outside.. maybe that would work? Hate to have to ruin leather-lined flats though..
along the *inside*
29In Japan we have "peds" but they come in all colors designs(stripes, red, flowers...), and are mostly lacey ones. People love to show them off. You can contrast them with your shoes or coordinate them with your outfits. I really wish they had them in the U.S. They really help your feet. Even some have pads on the bottom for hurting feet! Any designers out there--why don't you start your own line and market to teens first then everyone else. That's how they caught on here.
Goodness I don't know what to do if you live in the U.S. Maybe get an insole that helps with those foot probs(you can replace it every once in a while).
