Claire Danes has quite the tough act to follow. It was announced [1] today that she is replacing Drew Barrymore, who was Gucci's first ever celebrity campaign face, as the Gucci Fine Jewelry girl.

Drew's ads were stunning [2], and hopefully Claire's will be just as iconic — she's being photographed by the same duo as Drew — Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

As for the reasoning behind the choice, Gucci's designer Frida Giannini explains: "Claire's sensual, confident beauty and her passionate, independent, and strong character embodies today's Gucci woman." The ads are set to debut this Fall.
