Seeing Vogue Paris editor Carine Roitfeld and her daughter Julia in such powerful ensembles at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival [1] makes me wish my mom and I were that rich and famous! There were a lot, and I mean a lot, of stunning red-carpet looks this week [2], but no one was as captivating as this fashionable French mother-daughter duo. Natalie Portman in Givenchy [3] came in at close second, but Carine and Julia take the crown because I believe in power in numbers. The first of the two — Carine in Lanvin — were slick women in black. Later, at the amFAR event [4] they were bombshells in Balmain (cue lightening sound effects). Fierce.
