I do wear leather (and I have one wonderful fur bag which I love) but I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. I wouldn't want to pretend as though I think it's unethical - because if that
were true, I should stop eating meat of all kinds too.
It's difficult one... I'm not against fur and leather as long as it's farmed and managed in the right way.. we have the knowledge to be sustainable with our actions. I don't personally wear
any fur, but I also respect the fact that some people do love it.
I have a vintage leather coat and shoes and belts and stuff like that. I don't make it a point to fill my wardrobe with animal parts, but I can't claim to be 100% cruelty free, either.
I try to be more aware of this stuff now, but I'm not throwing out my old shoes and belts and that old coat!
i admit, I am a hypocrite. I try to be vegan--diet & fashion, but I have many slip-ups. Occasionally I'll eat pizza with cheese & buy leather shoes. I just love shoes so it's really
hard for me. I do have lots of vegan shoes (like Natalie Portmans in my avatar), a couple Stella McCartneys & several Payless & Target shoes, but there are just so many other cute
shoes out there!! I cannot wear fur (real or fake--it weirds me out) or any leather clothes--it also makes me uncomfortable which just highlights the hypocrisy.
I agree with everyone else, it's a difficult one, I'm definitely anti-fur but I only wear real leather shoes and bags, so i can't say I'm ethical all the way, but I guess my stance on fur
comes from the fact that the animal is being killed solely for it's skin, whereas with leather it's a by-product of beef, and I eat beef... So, I don't know, tricky for sure.
I just hope all the fur wearers out there are being super careful where their furs come from and they're not inadvertently wearing someone's pet, which, if the fur happens to come from China,
they very likely are.
Rnicole, I'm not sure who you're referring to. All the comments prior to yours seemed pretty straight up and honest to me
Gabiu- This analogy only makes sense if you think you are of comparable intelligence (and thereby would have comparable ethics) to a worm.
Only beautiful animals and ugly people wear fur.
I have a couple leather bags and wallets. I have shoes that are also made out of leather. That's about it. I don't like fur, faux or real, so that's not an issue for me.
personally, i think fur is atrocious, however i don't really have a problem with leather. reason being, leather is a bi-product - we eat the meat. with fur, such as chinchilla and fox, we are
wasting away the animal.
Leather only. I try to minimize buying leather stuff (i.e. shoes, belts, bags, etc.), but I'm still trying to find some alternatives. I cannot wear fur at all.
I strive for none of the above. I do have a penchant for peacock feathers, but I try to remember that as lovely as they look on me, they look far better on their original owner.
I just can't wear fur - my parents are old hippies and instilled strong values in us: no fur, no veal, no foie gras, leather shoes only when needed (like running shoes for my mom, I avoid
leather shoes).
I think fur is just wrong - it's rare that we eat the animal we get fur from, plus I was always scarred by my step-grandma wearing a coyote coat with coyote heads and paws attached (remember
in the Ghostbusters movie how the woman's fur coat came alivee? always been scared of that). Also, we have coyotes in our mountains, and they are super dirty mangy animals, like a stray dog.
And I had a pet bunny (oddly enough eaten by the coyotes), so bunnny coats/hats/bags make me sad.
I wear leather, but if I had enough money, I would wear fur too!
I think that what made people avoid fur and leather is not just because are died animals, but the treatment they receive until die. I mean, if they weren't torture in the process, nobody
(when I say nobody I mean groups like PETA) would care to this!
I WEAR LEATHER SHOES AND BAGS, BUT HAVEN'T EATEN MEAT IN 12 YEARS. IT'S NOT THE PERFECT SOLUTION, BUT I BELIEVE IT REDUCES THE DEMAND FOR DEAD ANIMALS. EVERY BIT HELPS.
I don't like fur and feathers, so I don't wear them. But I think leather shoes are simply the best - they're comfortable and tend to smell less and I love the smell of my leather bag.
I wear leather, and have an ancient angora sweater or two, vintage fur bags and a coat. I wouldn't go and buy a fur coat or bag brand new because I prefer vintage. I have no problem eating
meat of any kind.
I eat like a strict vegetarian, but when it comes to fashion I feel like a hypocrite. I don't wear fur, and I never would, but I do own a couple leather purses, belts, and pairs of shoes. To
be fair, aside from one pair of shoes, I haven't purchased any new leather products for several years (since going hardcore veg), though I did just buy a leather bag vintage, which I guess
I'm okay with because it's like recycling..?
I LOVE leather. It's just so effortlessly cool to me. I wear it a lot, espesh black leather.
I live in California so fur is not really practical. The only fur thing I own is a vintage mink cape that I inherited from my grandmother. It does kind of creep me out sometimes too.
Especially rabbit fur, since I have a pet rabbit. However, I do think that there is nothing more fabulous than a really beautiful fur coat.
I'm a vegetarian so I don't for obvious ethical reasons. But honestly, even if I didn't care about humaneness fur is tacky. People that wear fur always look trashy not chic.
I'm guilty on three counts of leather shoes and one count of a leather jacket. Beyond that - none.
Leather is redeemable because of its obvious practical qualities, none of which go for fur or feathers.
I don't have a ton of leather, mostly in my shoes, but I do have one wonderfully soft, useful (and now a bit worn) leather trenchcoat.
I would justify that one coat, which I have now owned for 18 years, and good quality shoes that are worth repairing and resole-ing, far before justifying 100 pieces of plastic/PVC/mass
produced items. I have some leather bags too, but they are all of high quality, and some (my old black Prada bag) are bordering on vintage.
Morality has a lot of facets. Consumption of goods is not just about the type, but the quantity.
If you must buy "animal" then buy, but buy well, and buy only once, if possible. This is my belief anyway
I have a few pairs of leather shoes and a leather jacket. I'm not a
vegan and I'm not going to pretend to be one, but I don't wear fur.
Reminds me of my cat, and that's a little too creepy for comfort.

Singer and actress Selena Gomez posed for pictures at the 2009 American Music Awards with a pretty pink smile on her face. She took advantage of the occasion and went glam; wearing a Talbot Runhof sequin dress with black strappy heels.
Yes, they are classic and versatile staple of a my wardrobe!

4I don't wear fur and probably never will, but I couldn't live without leather shoes - nothing forms to your feet like leather.
5I wear leather and animal print shoes but that's about it.
6I wear leather and fur. I'm currently looking for the perfect leopard print shoes.
7leather on my feet only.
8There are some liars in this room....
9I have a leather jacket but other wise no no no...
10i admit, I am a hypocrite. I try to be vegan--diet & fashion, but I have many slip-ups. Occasionally I'll eat pizza with cheese & buy leather shoes. I just love shoes so it's really hard for me. 11I own some leather goods, but I would never consider wearing fur.
12nope, I'm a vegetarian
13So worms shouldn't eat us when we die since it is unethical. I like fur and leather.
14I wear leather only.
15I do wear leather.
16And I do own a fur coat. But I didn't buy it. I inherited it from my grandma when she passed away.

22I wear some leather but absolutely no furs.
23I wear leather. But I try to make informed choices.
24I just can't wear fur - my parents are old hippies and instilled strong values in us: no fur, no veal, no foie gras, leather shoes only when needed (like running shoes for my mom, I avoid leather shoes).

I wouldn't wear fur even if the animals were treated humanely before they were killed.
27And the worm analogy doesn't make sense, sorry.

32i wear very little leather, and mostly because i think it is better than pvc or things that will never bio-degrade.
fur? never.

34I said other b/c I dont where any of that, but I don't have a moral stance on it.
35leather shoes and purses.

37I wear leather. Hard to avoid.
38I'm guilty on three counts of leather shoes and one count of a leather jacket. Beyond that - none.
39Leather is redeemable because of its obvious practical qualities, none of which go for fur or feathers.
Ah, and pure sheep wool. Though of course, the animal doesn't need to be killed for that one, making that less of a crime IMO.
40I don't have a ton of leather, mostly in my shoes, but I do have one wonderfully soft, useful (and now a bit worn) leather trenchcoat.

41I only wear what I would eat
42Leather only! And maybe faux fur, since like some of you said, leather is by-product of beef. We're just making the most of it.
I don't approve of killing animals solely for their skin though...
43And that, my friends, was the second time I saw nipple on a Sugar site today. Nipple Fridays!
44I have a few pairs of leather shoes and a leather jacket. I'm not a
45vegan and I'm not going to pretend to be one, but I don't wear fur.
