As I look out the window to a faintly smoky-skied San Francisco, this Alexander McQueen motif from his Resort collection seems very relevant. In case you didn't hear, there were wildfires in Northern California recently [1], and the smoke spread to other parts of the state. Freaky? A little. When I first saw this wisp of a print, I had to zoom in. What is that?!

Many see McQueen as a portent in the fashion world, and, yes, he is pretty dope. He has always had his own aesthetic; slightly dark, immensely feminine, completely captivating. This moody motif actually evolved from a pattern on trenchcoats, to tromp l'oeil embroidery on shirts and pants, to a print on T-shirts and an LBD. We see prints on clothes day in and day out, but this one is a stand-out. The smoking and fashion debate continues [2]; what about in this case? Can you make an exception? (Yes)
