This McQ V-Neck Gingham Dress ($490) would be perfect for this weekend's Fourth of July festivities. Alas I'm fearful of it looking a little too hokey. I kind of have a sweet spot for gingham, but is this dress overboard?

I can't say that I hate it I just want to alter it a little maybe move the bow or shorten the sleeves a touch. I actually love the deep V neckline for the drama which you don't usually get in gingham and the shape is lovely and I like the play on the sort of 50's picnic dress with an edge of cocktail flare. I wish I could figure out exactly what bothers me about the dress because then it would be a no brainer
It's so cute, the cut and bow keep it from being too hokey.
I think it's cute but it would be even better if it would be in only one color, without the pattern.
I like it - but I think it would look more interesting if the bow & bit around the middle were a different colour, maybe.
No, thanks. It's not my style.
love this dress. with the right accessories it would be perfect for an outdoor party.
What's not to love!!
LOVE it!
Chose "love it"...I can't wear it, but it would look really cute on someone with a different body shape and complexion than me.
This is one of the ugliest dresses I have seen in a loooooong time. It looks like something you'd buy at Wal-Mart!! And it's $490??!??!?!!?!?!
I love the shape and I would definitely wear it if it were in a solid color.
i'm a sucker for shirtdresses. and i like that the gingham makes it modern, but a little old-fashioned at the same time.
I love this dress so much, if I had $490 to spend, I would actually buy this - which is saying something since I'm pretty cheap (haha) - but I love gingham, I love Alexander McQueen, and I love how the deep v-neck cuts down on the busy-ness of the print and makes it look much more modern...
with that plunging neckline it is far from hokey. i agree with bransugar79 the sleeves look a little off. this would be fabulous as a sleeveless. i would forget the bangles and add a pretty pair of red wedges for that pop of color. all in all a very cute find but i personally would never spend that much on a dress...(jewelry is a better investment
)
Going to a square dance? Waaaay too hokey.
I don't love it or hate it. I would prefer a different fabric and I wouldn't have the bow. Otherwise the cut is cute.
loves it
it would have been so cute for today!!
i would wear it in a heartbeat. so adorable.
I love the style, but hate the pattern.
I love it...as long you didn't actually wear it to a 4th of July party. That would be hideously cheesy. Then it would look like a costume rather than just a cute dress, which it is.
i love it. it's adorable.
hate it!
make it sleeveless, replace the gingham bow with a red leather belt, and add metallic accessories!
Like the style but save me from the tablecloth!
I like it, i'd rock it with some white espadrilles.
It's okay...
Oh my gosh, that is so cute! But I've seen plenty of knock-offs that look just as cute and cost much less.
I love it! It's so cute!
Ugh, no wayyyy...it reminds me of a giant picnic blanket.
it's kinna cute i guess.
Its cute, but I would prefer it in a solid color
Ew. I like the design, but it looks like a tablecloth.
It's a great dress for a sock monkey! But $490 for gingham. What's next, $500 crinoline?
It's very cute, and I love gingham, but I wouldn't pay $500 for that dress.
I was the very first one to comment that is was a McQ V-Neck Gingham Dress, not a plaid dress, and I linked it to net-a-porter!
coolness!
