Judging from Maggie Gyllenhaal's nonconformist sense of style, you wouldn't think she cares about what other people, including the tabloids, say about her fashion choices. But she's only human, and in August's Marie Claire (on set, left), she confesses her feelings about finding herself on "worst dressed" lists.
"Sometimes it freaks me out. I've been so hurt and felt so bad." Luckily, the actress is learning to move on with her life, saying "People will always say mean things about you if you put yourself out there."
Ain't that the truth. If you don't take risks, you'll never get ahead, and that goes for fashion as well. We love you and your wardrobe choices, Maggie, and we hope you continue to spice up the red carpet.

So called called fashion "experts" on television and especially from tabloids are exactly the people to ignore. What they consider fashionable involves being boring and generic and they've ruined red carpet fashion. Most of what people wear for award shows is completely boring because they give such a ridiculous amount of importance to these stupid lists. Wear whatever you want, Maggie. Fashion isn't any fun when you adjust what you wear so others will like it, but it looks nothing like the person's actual personal style. I always feel disappointed when I start to feel like someone who is actually interesting is changing themselves to please others.
1Well put, Francoisehardly!
2Not interested in her at all.
3she's a great actress... and absolutely adorable.
4i love the dress she wore to the dark knight world premiere!
She's one of my favourite celebrities and I always love everything she wears. She's up there with Eva Green when it comes to individuality on the red carpet, and I don't think she should give a sh*t what other people say / think about her outfit choices.
5I was never really interested in her until I kept seeing previews for The Dark Knight. She truly is beautiful and she really shouldn't care what the media thinks of her fashion choices. She's not here to be some sort of fashion icon on the red carpet, she is here to act and to entertain us with her talent as an actress. Everything else that comes with being a celebrity shouldn't even matter, once the critics start saying that she's a terrible actress, then she should start worrying.
6I think she's terrific. What I think sucks is the way people photograph her. I'm a photographer, and I can tell you that taking the same picture from two different angles can completely change the look of a person. When Maggie wore that fab vintage-inspired outfit to some talkshow the other day (it was kind of a strappy black number, very 40's-ish, with a terrific hat), I thought she looked AMAZING and CLASSY! Then, I'm on people.com where they do the whole "Hit or Miss" outfit thing, and they posted a pic of her in that outfit from a bad angle - she didn't look the best, and people considered it like a 90% miss. Whatever. She's great!
7I love Maggie. She's so different from most of the other actresses out there today.
8I don't know what it is, but something about her just makes me go ehh...
But yeah if you put yourself out there, people are definitely going to make comments. Sad but true. Tis the life of a Hollywood actor.
