Mixing denim is a dangerous game; you either pull it off or you don't. The key to perfecting this tricky look is thinking outside the box and above all, making sure your denim items contrast one another. Time to kick that old image of a cowboy out of your head!
- Pair ink dark jeans with a light denim jacket, and vice versa.
- Make it look like you mismatched your denim on purpose, like at D&G Spring '08 (pictured).
- Look to trousers, blazers, and sharp cuts that will translate your mixed denim ensemble as modern.
- Don't forget to check out the plethora of fun colored jeans available, too. The possibilities are endless!
Most of you despised this idea, but are you willing to try it out now?

Maybe colored denim and regular, but not different colors of blue... The denim suit was a trend when I was in high school and I just can't go back.
1the canadian tuxedo in any way, shape, or form is disgusting - almost as much as that model's legs (creepy!)
2I agree with Alikat07...I think mixing different blue denims is a big no-no. Black denim with blue denim, or another color, would work much better.
3Just say "no" to double denim!!!
4I just avoid it. Like when I feel like wearing my denim jacket, i'll wear pants that day instead of jeans.
5The look on the model is actually kind of cute. It'd be hard to come up with that kind of contrast, though. The shirt doesn't read as denim, to me, so that helps a lot.
That said, in my wardrobe, I try not to mix plaids, blacks, or denims. The results of mixing those just never work out well for me!
6I like it. Period.
7Agreed mixing denim colors its just not the way to go, i bet if you go to the real world wearing that people would eat you alive. But then again everybody has their own taste and that is the beauty of Fashion.
8I do like the example of the model because as you stated it can get ugly if demin is not pulled off correctly. Even with mixing blacks too it can get pretty questionable if you do not double check, just to make sure you are in good standing.
