I will always love the Gap. I mean, cotton basics? Cozy knits? Preppy staples? Oh, and I love their lip balm. Change is already underway at the company, with Patrick Robinson as head designer under the gun. This Fall campaign, shot by Mikael Jansson, is quintessential Gap — black and white, laid-back poses, American inspired. But the cast and the styling are fresh.
The idea behind the campaign is to “Create Your Own GAP” by mixing and matching classic pieces to create an outfit all your own. The celebrities and models are styled to suit their personal tastes, and the list is vast: Liv Tyler, Georgina Chapman of Marchesa, Fabcon Clemence Poesy (pictured here), Ginnifer Goodwin, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Schuman (of The Sartorialist), Cecilia Dean (cofounder and editor, Visionaire), models Chanel Iman and Lily Donaldson, and more. This exhibits a cooler, more undone Gap with a focus on fashionable, functional garb. Are you impressed?

Lame ad for lame clothing...
1Nothing new, but I always like their ads. And I like a lot of the pieces in their fall collection too.
2I like this ad concept a lot. I have always been a fan of GAP but in the past few years they have gotten BORING. It seems that w. Robinson they are heading in a positive direction. Quality, comfortable basics! Can never go wrong there.
3I love them. I want the cardigan Liv is wearing in her ad and I was happy to see people like Clemence and even Camille Bidault Waddington. I don't know whether I'll find the Camille one in American magazines though, but I'd like that one too.

5I love that Gap is taking so many steps in the right direction over the last few years. They really started getting weird at the beginning of the new millenium, but I think they're right back to what they do best: modern classics!

7I'll always love the Gap, and these pictures are stunning and classic, BUT they've done this campaign strategy before. Remember SJP's "How Would You Wear It" campaign? Same concept. Oh well.

9I've already seen these in September-issue magazines and LOVED them. They made me want to go to Gap and buy - which is the entire point of ads, right?

12I love the Sartorialist! A stroke of brilliance in the casting. It all seems a little like Americanized Uniqlo now. Fine by me, I love Uniqlo.

15i agree- they make me want to actually go to the gap and buy- and that is the point of a campaign- so i'll have to say job well done!
16I really haven't liked the Gap in recent years, but the clothes in these ads are pretty nice, as in much more that I expected. I might actually go into a store and see for myself.

I'm often disappointed by their selection, so if they're getting a style overhaul, then I'm game. I'm sick of these paper thin layering pieces being trotted out as clothes.
22I would rather wear old gap then new gap.
23I like the look, and I've been a huge Gap fan since the early nineties, but until the quality of Gap clothing improves, I refuse to buy anything that isn't on sale. My Gap jeans from 5 years ago still look new, while a 3 month old pair is already developing holes and the leg seams have ripped! Even the new Old Navy jeans seem to be better quality than Gap, which is just wrong!
