One color is just not interesting enough anymore. Agreed. Colorblocking [1] is always fun, and in small doses, like on a Marc Jacobs clutch, it's even more fun. Contrasting black and white is decidedly mod, while tonal colors are downright funky. Two-tone never looked so Fab.
