I love ankle pants and have for a long time. They still suck like all pants in the rain though, just tuck them into rain boots like you do with all other pants.

hm. it seems like a good concept... but for wide hips, doesn't it visually shorten the legs? i can just picture these being incredibly unflattering on anyone who doesn't have a very slim lower body.
