The Thakoon dress looks so lovely on her. I love how to went for a more edgy designer and less well-known designer.

for some reason, i think that looks awkward on her, especially in the first photo of her and barack. i'm glad that she breaks political-dressing tradition tastefully!

It looked good on TV, I thought, tied the whole family together into a beautiful tableau. The little girls were in different shades of dark pink, adorable. (Doesn't hurt the clothes that they're tall, fit, beautiful people!)

She's usually well-dressed, but that dress is loud and ill-fitting. I'm afraid this weeks Fab Favorite was a political choice...

I think it looks great on her, but I could never pull it off. I don't think anyone can top Jackie O in her fashion sense, but she definitely seems like the Jackie O of the new generation.

I really like that she took a risk with this bold print. It's interesting and I loved how the daughter's dresses tied into the color palette.

This is one of the ugliest dresses.

I also am not enamored by her style. She is very eccentric in her clothing and that to me is not a good thing.

I LOVED the teal dress she wore and the cream one she wore this week also! I love how she's taking some fashion risks...at times I find Cindy McCain's style choices a bit plain, restrained, and just boring at times!!

Fab, you better hurry and do a Cindy McCain post before people accuse you of being biased?! Nevermind, if you don't find her fashionable enough to warrant a mention......seriously I think if Fab REALLY liked something Cindy wore she would've mentioned her too aside from any politcal affiliations in mind! Maybe she's just not impressed with her wardrobe enough...who knows?!

I hate this dress! Its a terrible color combination (I remember making a Valentines Day Card for mother once with these colors... I was in kindergarten. It doesn't accentuate anything on her and actually makes her look somewhat frumpy. However, I do give her kudos for the grand effort she made to match Obama's tie lol

I'm glad she's doing herself and not someone else; she's pretty badass enough to hold her own and be her own self. BTW the woman does have a law degree. She dresses appropriately and unlike that Cindy McCain trying to dress like Old Spice girl or something.
Mrs. Obama's a class act and her taste is impeccable for her stature and physique.

Cue the eyerolling! LOL ... I knew they would come out again in this post. Perhaps there are posts about Michelle Obama because this week was the Democratic National Convention? And perhaps Palin hasn't been covered yet because she was just announced Friday? Or perhaps Fab really should have covered Palin's choice of a rather understated black suit jacket for her acceptance yesterday. Anyways, back to the subject of the post, which is the DRESS, I liked the dress but like lms wish she had paired it with patent black heels instead.

Politics aside, Palin looks and dresses like a constipated beauty pageant last place finisher. What is with those horribly inappropriate red sequin platform sandals she is always wearing? What is she, 12?

I agree she should have worn heels, but I think this look is fun. I wish she would wear her hair with less volume...or get a weave.

I love her and I love the dress. She is a great example of how you can be strong and feminine at the very same time. But with the way she carries herself she could pull off any look.

i think i like the idea of the dress more than the dress itself. the fact that we know she makes no apologies for herself or her personal style is something i admire - she's not going to done it down and wear something boring just because.. and i think it extends to her footwear as well. why wear heels?

i think she's pretty fab. when the other political ladies start taking some fashion risks (print, anyone?), they too can make their way into fabsugar.

I'm surprised they chose pink as the color to coordinate between themselves, though, I had expected blue. Political symbolism and all.

I love this look!!! Michelle looks beautiful in this dress. Sure, it may not be the most form-fitting or flattering dress, but honestly I think if it were people would criticize her for being too trendy and fashion-forward. Just saying...

Anyway, to repeat what others have already said, I appreciate that she's been wearing both high and low-end designers. People should stop complaining that Fab hasn't covered Cindy McCain or Sarah Palin yet. Remember, this is a blog about fashion, not politics, so obviously Fab hasn't felt inspired by either woman's style yet.

Yes, Fab I agree with shannydoots stay true to your blog and report what you want. Whenever some of the other political women find fashion and pull it off then report that otherwise it will be fake to just report their fashion because some people on here are sick of seeing Michelle. She looks nice her hair and makeup where fab and yes the hair was a bit more full but that was the statement of the hair style. It was big hair for a big event.

Let's start a tally...how many more times will Michelle Obama be compared to Jackie Kennedy before the election? This is all political posturing, and quite frankly, I'm sick of it.

She does not echo Jackie in any way, shape, or form. Repeating the same news story over and over again does not make it fact, no matter how hard we try.

I think the dress is ugly. I'm baffled why she is being compared to Jackie. Cindy McCain is lovely, graceful, smart and definately dresses better.

in other news, cindy mccain's not looking half bad herself. and i love how hillary clinton and sarah palin have taken to suiting to convey that they're NOT first ladies, but executives in their own right....

I think she hits the right pitch for someone who's in the political scene. It's not too flashy, but she takes it a bit further than boring Washington political folks.

On another note, she looks good in color. The pink makes her skin glow.

I actually like the coloring of the dress. I think whatever either wife wears she will be criticize no matter if people like it or hate it or whether they are from the opposing party.

You, probably look better in cool colors that others couldn't pull off. That is sometimes nice as well, cool and pale colors.

lol, you sound like my mom. She always has something positive to say. I am pink. Plain and simple. I can basically do pastels.

As I am taking a break ---brain is tired. I think pastels are great, its a trick to do them and people that can pull them off always look timeless.
