I remember a time when supermodels reigned in the fashion industry. It was an era when we were on first name basis with Christy (Turlington), Kate (Moss), Cindy (Crawford) and Claudia (Schiffer). It was a time when Naomi (Campbell) wasn't known for her phone-throwing antics and Tyra (Banks) didn't have an Oprah-esque talk show. Where oh where have those times gone?!

I absolutely bow down to Versace's Spring/Summer '07 ad campaign because it attempts to recreate the infamous supermodel era of the early 90s. Although you can't see it in the photos above, the ads, which are in all of the major fashion mags right now, say "Carolyn, Kate and Carmen for Versace." Equally enthusiastic about the supermodel era are our friends at Fashionista, who did a post about Vogue's 100th Anniversary cover with the greatest supermodels.
One of the greatest photogs, Mario Testino, shot these ads with famous models Kate (no last name necessary here!), Carmen Kass, Angela Lindvall and Carolyn Murphy. Like all of Mario's work, the ads ooze glamour and sophistication. The fabric hues are rich and are the perfect contrast to the models' blond, silky hair.
What do you think about Versace's Spring/Summer '07 ad campaign?

The supermodels of before--leaving out Naomi Campbell of course--didn't have their private lives splashed all over the internet and they were great role models. I dunno about Kate Moss being the supermodel like the ones from yesteryear.
She's talented and all, but not well-rounded like the other supermodels, like Turlington, Banks, Seymour, Cindy Crawford and Elle M., etc. I definitely could be bias but I just feel the class is lost in the media today.
1This is a beautiful photo though! I love Carolyn Murphy too, she's a great environmentalist.
They look great! But I am getting a little tired of seeing Kate's (airbrushed) face in every second add these days.
2I like it too, but I'd personally like to see them use more women of color
3Kate is definitely everywhere these days, but I think the girl gets more and more stunning with age! And she's a true style icon. And she's not bad to look at either.
4Stunning! Beautiful clothes and beautiful women.
5Mario Testino does awesome stuff. I cannot get over the exhibit I saw last May of his Princess Diana photos from years ago. there was a fantastic exhibit in Kensington Palace in London. The photos were stunning.
6I love them!
Booyaka!
7Great colors!
8Beautiful!
9amazing campain!
10yea okay,
11but what about brunettes?
where my bruntettes at???
I find it amazing!!! I agree with Fab about Kate looks, she does look better with age. Another model in this campaign that looks better and better with age is Carmen Kass she is 29 and that in model years is A LOT
) the girl is in the business for a long time and still does
some great things, and I also have to mention that when she started modeling her family was very poor now the girl is one of the richest women in Estonia if not the richest soooo two thumbs
up for u Carmen
12Yay for rags-to-riches stories! Go Carmen!
13I've seen these ads before multiple times.
14I love the clothes, the models are alright... A splash of COLOR would be nice though!! We have all seen this before!!!
15These pics are boring and dull.
16It's a really beautiful ad campaign. It makes you want to stare at it for awhile.
17It looks springy and I see how it harks back to the golden years of supermodels.
18I know this is old but I had to talk about it. I remember those days when we did know all the models on a first name basis and I watched House of Style, and CNN's House of Style with Elsa Klench. Good times!
19i'm a little late with my comment but i love these ads! (basically i love all of versace's ads) this one in particular though because it takes us back to a great era of the true supermodels. i miss that! instead now celebrities' faces are put everywhere in fashion now. that's so annoying. fashion definitely needs a return of "the supermodel." hopefully its around the corner
20LOOOVE this!
