I've been seeing this Anya Hindmarch "I'm not a Plastic Bag", approx $6.75, everywhere. Apparently it is all the rage. It it quite cheeky and with all the talk about banning plastic shopping bags it is fashionably PC. And for once here is a designer bag that is pretty wimpy in composition and is actually cheap - as it should be! That is why this bag has been selling like hotcakes and has bids up to $270 on eBay. Ok, that I'm not sure about...but this would be an awesome bag to tote my organic groceries in. Fashion meets function meets the environment. Viva la future!

For $6.75, I love it. It's adorable and funny, and I may pick one up if they ever restock.
1I like it, I'd buy it at 7 bucks, I wouldn't mind!
2Im a purse wh*re and I love it. Infact, Ihad to email them so I could find a place to pre-order the darn thing.

3Ha! I love it!
4Eco-friendly with attitude. Ya gotta love it!
"Party like a rock star, pound like a porn star, play like an all star!"
5As cute and sarcastic as this bag is, how many celebrities are actually using it instead of plastic bags? I love the idea, but it seems to be a celebrity statement of "environmentalism," more than a demonstration of environmental activism.
6I'm undecided. I like that someone managed to make reusable shopping bags fashionable, but I don't like how this bag has turned into a must have status bag. I guarantee that there will be a large sect of women who carry one of these into the grocery store as a purse and still have their cashier sack everything in plastic. :T
7These are cute and funny, but re-selling them at $270 or whatever totally defeats the purpose!
8This is really popular? I've never seen it before.
9To be perfectly honest, i think it's pretty ugly! sorry guys...
10cute and cheap..
11y'know, it's quirky, and i kinda like it. it's making a cool statement and at that price, not too bad. i know the site says it will post where you can get one next week, BUT does anyone know, NOW?
12I like it a lot and I haven't seen any around here.
13Personally, I find the statement a bit pretentious, because it's screaming, "LOOK AT ME!!! I'M ECO-FRIENDLY!!!" whereas there are plenty of people out there who have been using no-name/blank canvas shopping bags for ages to help the environment, yet they don't feel the need to proclaim this on the bags themselves. HOWEVER, I DO think it's a good cause b/c it will encourage more people to stop using plastic! So I wouldn't personally use it, but I'm not against it
The end.
14i think its cute.
15I love it! Anything that will get people to wake up & pay attention is great in my books!
16cute and cheap but its just like any other staus handbag. can't wait to see celebs use grocery bags that aren't plastic or those ugly canvas ones.
17This is popular?
i've never seen this..
18It's cute and cheeky but it has serious undertones of trend wh*re. Most eco-cool people dont need to broadcast it so vociferously. Sorry, guys.
19i like it, you can be eco friendly without looking a crunchy hippie
20why is it harder to believe keith richards didnt snort his father?
If the bag encourages people to use reusable totes then great. Plastic bags do pose an environmental problem. We, the planet, consume approximately 1 million plastic bags per minute. Annually that comes out to something like 500 billion or more. Yikes! For me, I prefer bright, colorful bags. Mine have cute graphics that bring a smile to my face and sometimes to the cashier or a fellow shopper.
21Grocery stores have had these for decades. It's not a fashion statement or a statement about the environment. It's a cop out. If you really wanted to help, you'd buy one from your local grocery store and use it there.
22So if you're really shopping for groceries do you buy 10 of these and tote them around? I do think it is cute.
23It's cute. I'm not into totes though.
24its hella cute... and CHEAP!
25I really don't like plastic bags and I love this one
26me0kat - here's the lowdown on the stateside version of this bag:
The bags will be available to pre-order online from May 7th with launch date on June 20th in all Anya Hindmarch stores as well as Fred Segal Flair & Ron Herman in LA. Holt Renfrew are also launching the bags through their stores from June 20th. This will be followed by the bags being launched in Whole Food Market stores in NJ, CT and NY in mid-July. Customers can pre-order the bag from May 7th at Anya's website.
Pre-order one today from one of the AH boutiques!!!

I pre-ordered 2! But it wasn't $6.75. They were $15 each, plus $15 shipping. It's still a great price tho, and they're sure to sell out really fast. But as I don't live in a city where they have an AH store, it's worth it to me to get on the list and have it shipped to me.
28Love it! Especially for the price.
29cheap and cute...i love it
30No thanks.
31like the price and love the whole idea behind it
32L!VE !N LOVE
I must have one!
33there seems to be no real idea behind this bag- none of the money goes to any sort of charity, I dont get the hype.
34You can get reusable bags at most stores for like 2 bucks
Im from spain, so the only place I can find it is at London... anybody knows where I can find it??maybe at harrods...and its so cheap!!I MUST HAVE IT!

38I got one the other day and I love it! Totally worth the wait in line.
39I love it I want one!
40I like what it's promoting more than the actual design, I would love one but I don't think they were distributed in SF
41Ooh! Love it and I got it as a birthday present too! Which saved me from inevitable pain if I had to buy it myself!
42I would like to have one, though my problem is the "status symbol" part of it--that really bugs me. If people are buying it for status, they've got the wrong idea. The only thing they're thinking about is themselves--not the environment. Which is completely tasteless in itself. As I've seen on other discussions on this, you can buy status but you can't buy class.
43I completely love the idea and the bag itself is cute, but it is hard to find at a reasonable price. I work for a company that hunts out and stocks eco friendly products, and there are really cute totes for less made out organic cotton. There are even ones you can design for yourself....for that reason, I left it as undecided.
44I have a knock off and it was much cheaper then paying $270! I think its cute and its a really strong material on the straps.
