I was just praising Rick Owens for his delectable leather jackets, and now I have to switch gears due to the accessories in his Spring '09 collection. I get that he's avant-garde and always serves up extreme trends, but since when did nun caps become vogue? They're better left for Fraulein Maria if you ask me. As if the caps weren't enough, almost all of the models were sent down the runway in flipper-like leather boots. I love funky footwear but these are plainly unflattering. What's your opinion about Rick Owens's Spring accessories — freaky or fabulous?

I will die if anyone votes this "fabulous!"
HATE all of it!
I'm just so confused by those things she has on her feet...are they flippers or boots?
not to mention the model looks like a possessed child from the 6th Sense
I´m confused too, runningWithHeels... but I think those are definitely flippers! ahahahaha
i love the clothes but i feel like the caps are taking away from the look a bit. i can understand the value of having something to stand out - but maybe it stands out TOO much.
They look like Daffy Duck gone Gothic.
I doubt these were ever intended to be sold, I'm sure they're just for styling purposes. To me the "flippers" look like flared cuffs worn on the leg and covering the actual shoes.
They do distract terribly from the clothing, so probably not a good idea in that respect.
Yeah this could be fab if I wear a scuba diving nun! Other than that this look is definitely FREAKY!!
oh boy
Completely ridiculous. But the designer's point is obviously to make such an impression (albeit negative) that the publicity flows. Sad that that's the way it works sometimes. :/
So bizarre...I can appreciate fashion as art but this isn't even impressive, just strange.
I like the first and second dresses... but the caps and flippers are terrible, they totally distract from what would be a fantastic, yet severe, dress.
There's just such a thing as too much avant garde!
what the...
seriously?!!! ewww for flippers. fug!
I thought it was fabulous. There is an underlying meaning here that people are just not getting. Very contemporary.
Bad, bad, bad! What self-respecting designer would have his models wear these?
is that a joke? fashion is about beauty! and i'm all for nonconformity, but seriously...
oh dear
Wow. Nun Ducks. I think they're running out of ideas for fashion.
Oh come on?? I love Rick Owens. This isn't freaky at all. IT'S FAB!
i went to Catholic school all my life. i don't need to see this--it evokes nightmares.
what's wrong with a nice ponytail?
i guess the designer watched the excorcist a LIIIIIIIIIIIttle too often...
gosh those models can bring nightmares to little ones
I don't have a problem with the hats, I think they're weird but one weird element is fine to catch your attention. the shoe things, on the other hand, are horrific and need to go.
It looks like the first model is wearing a cape, in addition to the lovely headgear and I'm pretty sure my nephew has one just like it that came with his Batman Halloween costume. If I borrow it, all I have to do is buy the habit to instantly transform into Super Nun!
Beyond Freaky and into Frightening. Boo to shock tactics to garner column inches and distract from meh clothes!
Ew...HATE.
Seriously, what the hell is this...?
its, uhm, interesting...?
The girls are ugly...so is the fashion. Sometimes I wonder about these designers, but his leather jackets are AMAZING! Maybe he was just having a bad day when he designed these....
And seriously, the flippers? WTF!
I could deal with the nun caps, but the flippers?!
Odd, looks like they left the salon with the cape on!
wtf
I read about this in the Times this morning. He missed the mark. Kinda tacky
