Last week we saw a clever little Anya Hindmarch bag that is preaching to the eco crowd - which most of you loved. Here we have another fashion and politics collaboration found by misspoli. These Adriana Bertini Condom Dresses can be admired in the Brazilian Sugar's group. These colorful and extremely textured dresses were created to help fight AIDS. According to misspoli, "Adriana´s target is to rock people about the importance of condom(s) to protect themselves from sexual transmissive illness." While these are not exactly wearable you have to love the idea and initiative. The artist uses preservatives from factories to create fashion; she is a true recycled fashion pioneer. These dresses have been viewed in art exhibits around the world and to read more about them visit Adriana Bertini's website. So...what do you all think? Love or hate?

I think she has created something of beauty of out something with really no appeal whatsoever. And found a (hopefully) fresh new way to attract everyone to the subject of condomns again.
ummm, i hope the condoms aren't recycled, hehe !!

uh, weird.
great for gallery displays.
It's a creative use of the product, hopefully it inspires people to USE the product.
Ok, I wouldn't wear them because they're condom dresses, but they almost look wearable (except the rainbow one).
I love that pink one! It looks like a very frilly dress at first glance. Sex ed is SO important, so I think these are fantastic.
Well, not as an actual dress to wear (looks squeaky) but as art I think its pretty amazing.
I think she would have done better by just handing those condoms out randomly at high schools and colleges, frankly.
It's the smell that makes me shudder. Hehe sorry guys!
Now that is some imagination/creativity at work. But let's just keep them on exhibit.
Wonderfully weird! Promoting safe sex is so important, and she did exactly that in a very fun new way!
"Party like a rock star, pound like a porn star, play like an all star!"
They look really cool but no way would I ever wear one!
very very unusual
i wouldn't wear it, but it is totally awesome
I totally get the point of these dresses, but as a girl, I wouldn't want to wear condoms like a dress! but I guess you could always tell your significant other.....hey baby, i'm coming over, and I'm bringing the condom dress! LOL
Clever and a good message but are they really wearable?
eew!
ahh that's so cool. is that wrong?
As some art with a message it's an interesting idea. As a dress to wear though..yuck!
Cool Dresses! Fashion with a Cause is Awesome! I wouldn't wear it but as Art, Hot!
It's not a bad idea. But it's not for Me!
That's pretty impressive but nasty.
I think they're fantastic! It's like the bubble wrap dresses. You probably wouldn't want to wear them more than once b/c by the end of the night, they will have served all of their purposes.. It's clothing AND entertainment!!
Eww. Condom... Dresses. this is so wrong.
i think this is great! like you're obviously not gonna wear them but i always love to see fashion collaborate with raising awareness! kudos to the designer!
Impressive - yes. But very VERY weird...

usedI feel robbed! I totally made a (unused) condom skirt a year ago for halloween; I was trojan WOman!
I handed out condoms too. There also happened to be a dude dressed as Trojan man at the party; it was pretty hysterical.
Very Artistic, however the black and white one really looks like condoms. The colorful ones fooled me as I looked at them. The designs look like fabric... till you get to the last dress.
erk
the 2 on the right are cute but its just weird to look at them up close and see what they are made of soooo undecided
Come on people of course they are not made to wear out on the street.
I think these dresses are hilarious and spread a great message. Im not going to get into the whole message about how abstinence only being taught in schools doesnt work (ok maybe a little) so why not show a message about safe sex in a creative way
Looks like summer dresses. The 4th looks good, but seems to be a beehive after a closer look (*shivers*)
These dresses are such a nice piece of artwork! It is such a neat idea to get innovative and make a statement at the same time.
Who would want to wear that?
AIDS awareness?? And they just wasted how many condoms they could have passed out for free??? Creative, but just a bit off.
wicked idea but reali wouldnt wear one lol
the multi-colored one looks like it's made from popped birthday balloons instead of condoms!
I'm still surprised they make condoms in such a wide variety of festive colors!!
the idea is great. It's creative and effective in delivering the message... Just not wearable
-------
Im just thinking of how uncomfortable these must be to wear.
Love them!
I adore the texture and colour. Though the two on the left would be hard to pull-off, I quite like the two on the right and could definitely wear either of them to an event.
I hate it!! I never liked clothes made to look so ridiculous.
To quote Clueless, "What a monet. It's like a painting, see? From far away, it's OK, but up close, it's a big old mess."
It's interesting to know that someone DOES play with condoms all day long but NO WAY!
I may need one of those. With three boys in Catholic school they're gonna have to learn about condoms somewhere!!! Seriously, they're for a great cause so I love them.
I love them. They definitely make a bold statement, and it's pretty clever on her part.
Impressive...but I would never actually wear them!
pretty damn cool
