Rochas is being resurrected from the dead. After about two years of being buried, Rochas ready-to-wear is making a comeback for March 2009. Owner Procter & Gamble Co. has struck a deal with Italy’s Gibò Co. SpA to make it happen.
"This license is actually more of a joint venture with Procter & Gamble because they will bring their marketing skills and we will contribute our fashion know-how to develop Rochas with rtw, knitwear and accessories," said Gibò president Franco Penè.
One important part of the puzzle, however, is still missing — a head designer has yet to be chosen. The last designer was Olivier Theyskens, who left in 2003 to become creative director at Nina Ricci after Rochas was closed.
