This shimmering Oscar de la Renta gown Dominican model Arlenis Sosa Peña is wearing may look familiar — Jessica Biel recently wore it at the Rome Film Festival. The actress may have gotten her hands on it, but did you know that Arlenis is one of the designer's favorite models? So much so that she opened and closed his Spring '09 show. She was even Oscar's guest to the Met's Costume Institute Gala.
The 19-year-old, who was discovered while walking to class in the Dominican Republic, is bringing much-needed diversity to the catwalk. Whether in posh ball gowns or racy getups, Arlenis brings major flavor to her work. She is also now part of the Lancome family. Oh, and she calls fellow models Chanel Iman and Caroline Trentini close friends.

Ooo brown pretty model, yay =)!!!
She is beautiful. Bella quisqueyana!!!
so gorgeous! long long legs!
That gown looks a thousand times better on her than on Jessica Biel.
Hurray!! Is she the first woman of color to be the face Lancome?
Im so glad to see that us dominican woman are being recognized as the beautiful and diverse ladies we are... besides im pretty sure it helped that Oscar de la Renta is also a fellow dominican.
She is very lovely.
gabiushka the dress looks better on her skin tone, but she is too skinny to fill out the curve hugging dress. Jessica looked better in that respect. I also think the necklace is too much.
she's got an amazing complexion doesn't she? i think that it's wonderful that she was truly discovered in an innocent way - if only we could all have that luck to be found on our way to class!
I ADORE her, but I actually think Jessica Biel pulled that gown off better. maybe it's just the photo.
I think that the dress looked better on Arlenis IMO; it compliments her skin tone. Jessica looked okay in it, though it would have been 10x better on her in a warmer color.
