i think it all has to do with the kind of performance you're watching. lady gaga dressing like leona would just be strange, and same the other way around.
My thoughts exactly, otaku. Leona sings ballads, it'd make no sense for her to wear something so extreme. But personally, I'm into more intimate indie bar music and there's no costumes in
that.
Like everyone else I think performance is most important...but if a costume helps an artist perform better than that's great! Personally, my music taste runs more along the lines of Leona
Lewis than Lady Gaga so most of the performers I listen to aren't over the top.
I think there is room for both. I mean people that can actually sing need no more than that, but others are better at performing so they need to enhance their images.
Well obviously talent is important, but a person's look should make sense for their music and go with their own personality. I'm fine with both "normal" dressers and people like Bjork, Roisin
Murphy, Natasha Khan (Bat For Lashes) and others.
I picked other because I love singers like Bjork and Roisin Murphy, yet I love people like Cat Power and Regina Spektor. If the latter two dressed up in eccentric outfits, it wouldn't work,
because it's not their style.
i think that if i'm going to pay to see as how then i want to get my money's worth and i'm all for as how. i like the dancing and the costumes and all that hulla-baloo.
I voted for eccentric performers but:
#1 I don't like Lady Gaga
#2 Madonna is THE exception because even if she's an eccentric performer, she sings soooOOOOooo false in concert!!

Jenna Dewan walked down the street in Beverly Hills looking extremely chic and poised. Her structured white blazer framed her body perfectly, and paired well over her draped fringe Haute Hippie halter, denim leggings, and over-the-knee brown boots.
From flowy red carpet gowns and body-skimming minis to casual leggings and cute shorts, this fashionable mom-to-be won't let a growing belly crimp her chic day-to-day style
I prefer good performers. That's the only major requirement.
1it doesnt really matter. i rather they perform well.

4I agree with everyone else...it's the performance that matters to me, not the costumes/attire. But something attention-getting is fun sometimes!
