Come to think of it, these dresses have way too much drama for your mama. Well, that is unless your mama is anything like the always avant-garde Cate Blanchett, here in Alexander McQueen. Those who display Cate's experimental nature should bust it out and show it off. Dramatic shoulders, crazy asymmetry, heavy draping, feathers, folds, leather, bold silhouettes — let them be your best friends.
Warning: Dramatic dresses require confidence. Let Cate, and other red-carpet queens of 2008, be your guides.

The Grecian dress looks fab in the pic, but going to the Bebe site is rather disappointing. Just another drapey dress in viscose-y fabric.
And that Karen Zambos dress is FAB from the back, but the front is underwhelming
1ha! these are great!
2I don't think the colors are right for her. The dress and shoes blend in too much with her skin tone. She needs more contrast.
3Even Cate's confidence isn't helping her with that dress.
4yeah, I do love drama, and I love a lot of those dresses, but cate's dress makes her hips like twice as big - awful...
5I love the dress until the spanx like skirt kicks in. I loved that fashion show; it was beautiful.
6The bottom of Cate's dress does indeed kill it. Otherwise it'd be very pretty...very ballerina.
7i don't like her dress but i love the red dress
8does that thing light up!?
9see i love fashion like this. there's something to be said about finding something to wear that isn't the typical same thing that we see all the time - and she has managed to wear new innovative things on the red carpet for quite some time through her career.
10I can't believe the Spanx-looking part is intentional! She looks like one of those glass votive candle holders.
