If you can't escape to la mar this Winter, escape via your wardrobe. Under the sea sequins are unexpected and mystical. There's something about a shimmer in a deep indigo, bright turquoise, or cool cerulean. Black sequins — been there, done that. These mermaids permeated the red carpets in the most beautiful of blues, Jennifer and Cate both in Balenciaga and Rachel in Derek Lam. Notice the varied shoe choices. Just because you're wearing an aquatic frock doesn't mean you can't wear some party shoes, too.

Looking like Ariel or a magician really isn't my thing.
more like space cadets.
ALTHOUGH, that BCBG gown is beautiful. Some sequins here and there aren't too bad!
Sequins are okay, in minimum.
i think sequins have to be chosen carefully or they might look very tacky
Jennifer Connelly needs to start eating again. She's not looking too healthy.
Cate's dress is TOO awesome. The paillettes are metal, and the dress weighs something like 22 lbs...but looks WICKED. A cross between chain maille and awesome.
I really like sequins for the holiday season. Since everything seems "extra" during this time, I think clothes should play along in the fun.
I like sequins but not usually all over the dress. Strategic placement is the ticket! By the way it's nice to see Rachel and Cate in the same post. It made me stop and comment seeing two of my favourite actresses.
Love it!! And I'm still bummed that a great sequin blouse I found on Ebay went for something like $200 (just a tad over my holiday budget).
Yuck...I hate these.
oooh, I love all three, especially Jennifer's. I also love that Forever 21 one, especially the price...
