Stunning outerwear is everywhere we look. 'Tis the season. Last night Amanda Peet showed off an ivory toggle coat she wore to the LA premiere of The Spirit. I love so many things about this French-inspired look. It's polished but not stiff, slightly casual but red-carpet appropriate. Underneath the coat, Amanda wore a black and gray striped top, a black mini skirt, and finished the look with opaque tights, black booties, and a black clutch. Trés chic indeed.

1Ugg I have such a thing for coats and in California I dont get to wear them all that much. And it makes no sense to have 30 in a closet which if I bought every coat i fell in love with I would end up with.

10L7amiguita, JCrew had a coat that looked very similar to that last winter, but some people are selling it on ebay now. I tried it on last year - it's beautiful and the quality is great.

15I love this look, but am I the only who think it's not "red carpet ready?" I'm not saying you have to wear the traditional cocktail dress or whatever, but this just does not seem formal enough. I do like it, though, and if anyone is interested in a cheaper version, delia's makes a really cozy one:
