
Frock
n. Synonymous with dress. The term has been used since Medieval times with various meanings to denote a variety of clothing: a painter's smock, a garment worn by sailors, or members of clergy. A frock coat, worn by men in the eighteenth century, was a fitted, buttoned, and full-skirted garment.
