I caught him on the Today show this morning — hence the tardiness to work today — and Teen Vogue nabbed some time with the first lady designer extraordinaire, Jason Wu. We all agree Michelle looked fantastic in his white flower appliqué gown last night. Swoon.
In this Teen Vogue exclusive, Wu shared that he's "been on pins and needles for two months. I made the dress in November, and flew to Chicago with it over Thanksgiving. I was like, I'm delivering this myself! I didn't want anyone else touching it! But I really didn't know she'd be wearing it until I saw her on TV last night, just like everyone else. I dropped everything when she walked out. And, yes, I did cry a little bit. It's an incredible moment for me, but also for this country. We're starting with a clean slate." Didn't we all cry a little bit?
Be sure to read on for more insight, but I must point out that we too were always on board with J.Crew cardigans — remember our Fall essential the punchy cardi?!

It's always pretty cool when someone wears an unknown designer for a major fashion event. I like to see people put their faith in the designers and not the brand names and take a chance. She looks beautiful. Don't know why he was even worried.
1genesisrocks I agree!
2Yes, I must agree that I liked that she two seemingly unknown designers for her outfit choices yesterday. That really says a lot about her not only stylewise but as a woman. She made a statement and looked absolutely beautifult throughout the day!
3I loved that dress...Michelle looked amazing.
4I'm so happy for the designer to have a moment like that! What I like best about the First Lady in this dress is that it makes her look youthful and fresh and it's appropriate for the event.
5That's a really pretty dress & perfect color choice.
6She looked lovely, but for the record, we did not all cry a little bit.
7I cried knowing that the first thing Obama plans to do is pass FOCA - so glad we have a President that cares about murdering babies!
8I thought it was fantastic that she chose an independent designer. I didn't like the dress at first, but it grew on me. They looked particularly lovely together as a couple.
