I learned the hard way that when questioning whether or not to buy a pair of shoes that are a wee bit too small - resist! Even if they are totally on sale, I do not recommend it.
Here's my story: my first Marc Jacobs shoes were a lovely pair of baby pink round toe Minnie Mouse flats. I got them for 70% off and they were tight, but I ignored that. Needless to say, I couldn't wear them; they led to blisters that were unbearable and they ended up sitting in a corner.
So, to avoid a tragedy like mine, leave at least a centimeter between your toes and the end of the shoe, and enough space for them to lie flat. Aside from the potential abandonment of a favorite pair of shoes, squishing the toes can cause unsightly corns and lead to toe deformities (ew!).

Haha, I've done this too! Except it was a gorgeous pair of black velvet flocked heels (sounds weird, but they were awesome) and I actually put up with the pain and wore them.
Of course that was in my younger days, when fashion *always* came before comfort!
1Thanks for the tip, Fab!
I've bought shoes that didn't quite fit before...but never
again!
2Buying small shoes is never a good idea, but if you do find yourself in that predicament you can take them to a cobbler and have them stretched a bit. They can't work miracles, and depends on the material the shoe's made of, but sometimes it can make the difference and save a pair from collecting dust in your closet.
3Yeah i know what you mean Fab
lol, those shoes look real good though.
4Ahhhh, it's always heart-breaking when they don't have your size!!! When I'm desperate,I get shoes a size bigger and buy foot soles!!!
5great advice, Fab!!
6this is really such great advice (: thanks.
7What size are they, if you still have them around
You can always post them on ebay,
and I'm sure someone (read: me) will bid on them.
That really is a bummer - those shoes are super cute.
8i always have the opposite problem, shoes become too big for me, even if i thought they were small at the store or if it fit perfectly, they become loose.
9I did the opposite of that too. I bought too big shoes. But now they fit well cos I bouht gelcushions
10That's totally me when I love a shoe i can so hard resit!
11Its so hard to resist but I but a shoe in schuh and gosh, i didn't know walking in small shoes were that hard...taught me a lesson (expensive lesson, jeez) not to ever buy shoes that are smaller...
12I tend to do that alot. Indeed it is definitely hard to resist! Thanks for the info Fab!! =)
13I am guilty of that also!!
14ok u just answered my question by posting this. I was having a a hard time to decide if I should by my regular shoe size or a size larger (my toes seem to always get blisters if they are too small or my right size) so now I know what to do. What kind of soles to you get? What brand?
15I totally hear the too small issue. I have bought shoes too small and paid for it heavily with blisters!
16i never buy small shoes even if i wanted them so badly because of corns and blisters! ouch! i would rather look for it and not give up until i find them in my right size than having deformed feet!
17Yeah I had a pair of shoes I called the "devil" sandals because the hurt like hell.. I think I had a blisters for days... I flip flops to work for a week.
18Good advice.
Love the shoes in the pic.
