Spring Peek: 2009, The Year of the Jumpsuit

my favorite trends for Spring, there was one item of clothing that appeared on every other runway.
Jumpsuits bloomed last year, but this year they have officially blossomed. Whether short, long, lean, boxy, printed, sporty, sexy,
or cloudy, there is a jumper for everyone. I already have a couple, but after seeing these 50 examples — yes, 50 — I'm going to add to my collection come Spring. Notice how some of these jumpers are fabulous and some are downright dowdy. Make your choice. I choose Donna Karan's deep-v watercolor silk jumpsuit — laid-back drama all in one

4Most models are incredibly thin. They are either too thin or have incredible bodies. These jumpers do absolutely nothing for 85% of the women in these slides. How is the average woman supposed to wear a style that even models can't wear?
I hope this style does not catch on.
52009 is the Year of the Jumpsuit? Looks like I'm going to be dressing out of style this year... ha.
6this trend is absolutely not for everyone!! i only like the short jumpsuits but i'm not sure if it's gonna look good on me or not!
7I agree with fashionsake. Also, I've seen some more on shopbop, and I think if they are a little on the loose side and hang on your body the way an Alexander Wang outfit would, then the better they look. B/c the ones that are more fitted look a little ridiculous.
8I agree with the others - if a model can't make it look good, I certainly can't. I'm quite curvy so this fashion item will make me look like a bag of potatoes tied in the middle. Not attractive at all.
I hope it doesn't catch on either!
9LOVE IT! I agree, though, that you must dress to fit your body style and what is flattering FIRST. But there are many different styles of jumpsuits with a variety of sleeves or upper quarter designs. Some are very feminine while some are utilitarian. Casual cotton vs. fancy silks. I'm not particularly fond of the romper (shorts) style but I can see it's purpose for some. I have been searching out jumpsuits for a better part of a year now.
10McQueen had made a nice one; I believe it's on netaporter now. 90% of the time, jumpsuits don't fit. I think that's the problem here.

I have fat on my thighs and midsection so I would look godawful in these. Jumpsuits are an extremely unflattering clothing item unless you are rail thin. They are just too utilitarian, I don't think this will really stick.
13I love them. Already purchased a long one that I'm trying to style for night, day, and work, and I'm planning on getting a shorter one for the summer.
It's bold and funky, which is pretty much the way I dress anyway. I love any piece that's hard to pull off and really fun to wear.
Besides, it's practically like getting to wear your PJ's in public!
14Ew i hate jumpsuits i don't care if they are in style i will never wear them. I agree with brittanygh if they don't look good on these models they won't look good on most people i also think they are really ugly.
15i think jumpsuits are cute. But, it depends what style of jumpsuit your talking about. I like the shorter ones it almost reminds me of Katy Perry style. They look cute when you pair it right.
16i agree with the comments about not being very flattering, but i do have to admit i love the trend (for the most part)! Stella McCartney makes BEAUTIFUL jumpsuits, i'd love to get my hands on one!!
