If you've got oily or combination skin like I do, keeping your face from looking shiny can be an ongoing battle. But while I always carry a powder compact with me for emergency de-shining, I don't want to look or smell like an overly powdered old lady. Plus, if your skin has a tendency to flake like mine, powdering your nose will just draw more attention to the problem. Fortunately, a few years ago I discovered what I believe to be the world's most perfect pressed powder, which is made by French cosmetics brand T. LeClerc. It's lightweight enough so as not to accentuate flaky skin but matte enough to battle shine better than any other product I've tried. Plus, it also has some concealer properties, so it smooths out skin and gives your face a velvety texture. As if all of that weren't wonderful enough, it comes packaged in a beautifully luxe metal compact, so you can look stylish while touching up. It's available for $48 here and worth every penny of the price tag.

Oooh, I love that compact! I don't use pressed powder anymore really. But, when I did, the compact was make-it-or-break-it for me.
1jen, what do you use now?
2I can't stand makeup on my face. Moisturizer with sunscreen only. Has anyone used a good tinted moisturizer that they would recommend?
3I use Stila tinted moisturizer with sunscreen, I cant stand makeup on my face especially if it's powder.;
4I use a tinted moisturizer from Laura Mercier with spf 20. It goes on really light and smooth. There's an oil free version too.
5hmm.. I just got a compact powder from M.A.C called Studio Fix..and I love it!!
6i like the looks of the compact upbove.. hmmmm what to do , what to do, i may have to try it
7thank you.
8anyone know if this is available at sephora stores?
9i was just in the Sephora store, and i didn't see it there, but i wasn't exactly looking for it either, but that would have been something that would of popped out at me too
10So, the velvet texture thing - that sounds pretty high coverage. If anyone has used this powder, is it sheer or does it make you look pretty made up? For the tinted moisturizer question, I use Stila Illuminating tinted moisturizer right now, but I also really love Laura Mercier's.
11ohhh...and i was just thinking about getting some new pressed powder this morning in the shower. (don't we all have random thoughts while washing our hair?)
anyway, does anyone have any more budget-friendly powders? i have the same problem as Fab with combo skin and flaking, but i don't think i can spend more than $20-25 (and i normally pay $5 so this is a real investment for me!).
thanks ladies...i know i can count on you!
12This looks great and all. And I am all about spending $$$ on a good makeup investment, HOWEVER, I think Cover girl pressed powder works just fine and it's under $4. (The secret is to run something flat with a point, like a square eyeshadow case over the surface creating loose powder. The texture becomes thicker and provides more coverage.)
13Actually, where can we try out the T. LeClerc powder before buying it online? Is the line carried in any major department stores?
