There's something really soothing about washing your hands with olive-oil soap, like you're sampling a small slice of life in an Italian country villa. And the handcrafted olive-oil soaps made by Saipua are some of the most romantic natural cleansing bars I've come across. The family-owned company, based in New York's Hudson Valley, makes its soaps from Italian olive oil, herbs, and—depending on the variety—other enticing ingredients like avocado oil, coffee, and mango butter. Adding to the exotic flavor, each bar comes wrapped in vintage-inspired papers and maps, making Saipua soaps a great hostess or housewarming gift. You can buy the brand at Saipua's workshop and store in Brooklyn, as well as at other specialty boutiques around the country.

"The word is derived from the Finnish word for soap."
First I thought it was all Finnish business, but apparently not. I kind of don't like their idea. You know, they are using very Finnish looking landscape on their homepage and such. Like they are trying to make money just copying some Finnish atmosphere.
And the Finnish word is actually "Saippua", so it's quite silly that they just dropped one letter out of it. And how do I know it? I'm from Finland
3My name is Sarah Ryhanen and I am one of the owners of Saipua. Thanks for weighing in with your comments - its always so refreshing to hear how people interpret our business. For clarification I wanted to explain a bit about Saipua; we are indeed a Finnish family business (with some Irish and Filipino mixed in for fun). The image on our website is a photo of the sauna my family built when they moved from Finland to Canada in the 1950's. It makes me sad to think that people may assume we are trying to capitalize on our heritage, perhaps we need to clarify some things on our website...Again, thanks for your feedback!
