Let's give Forever 21 a virtual pat on the back. The trendy cheap retailer has created a plus-size line to accommodate its more curvaceous customers. Faith 21 will offer of-the-moment items in a junior plus size, XL, 1X, and 2X.
Starting May 1, the plus-size collection will be available at Forever21.com, along with a few stores (Lakewood Center Mall, Montebello Town Center, Los Cerritos Mall, and Anaheim Plaza). Fret not all you non-Southern Californians; Faith 21 will hopefully launch nationwide soon. "It's normal procedure for us to test in certain markets and then roll out to the entire chain at a later date," said senior marketing manager Linda Chang.

Good for them!
Eh? The Anaheim Plaza web site doesn't list a F21 in their directory...
This is a great idea...in theory. What is a junior's "plus size" anyway? Like a size 9 or something. IMO, and I do shop at F21 occasionally, a lot of their materials and clothing designs are not particularly forgiving to plus size figures. Hopefully they'll be conscientious of what items to they do offer in the bigger sizes.
This is exciting for me solely because I have a large chest and F21's large never fits the way I want it to. It'll be nice to have cheap, stylish tops that give the girls some room to breathe.
Good for them- I think... I've never really understood why they have to separate the lines though instead of just incorporating larger sizes than they carry already.
I really wish they'd carry larger shoes! Some of them are way cute and cheap, but being an 11, they don't even carry my size... Looks like I'll have to stick to Target.com for shoes....
This is exciting! I have a big chest so I can't wear a lot of F21's woven or button up tops right now.
I wonder how this will effect their price point? Will they compensate with even cheaper fabrics or smaller hem lines? (As I'm seeing in that teaser picture.)
Seriously awesome!
It's about time.
I wear a size 12 and they technically carry my size already, but a 12 in F21 definitely does not fit me. I hope they'll bring this new line to Arkansas soon!
I'm not plus size but I think this is freaking awesome...all girls/women want to look cute at a resonable price....BRAVO. Maybe this will get people to stop "hating" on Forever21 so much they are doing what some lines wouldn't dare do!
I hope the clothes are cute and are actually the clothes they already carry just larger. When H&M came out with their plus sized line it was pure crap and I found it rather insulting.
If it's anything like the Maurices chain, (if any of you have heard of it) the plus sizes will have the same basic tanks, but the clothes will be different styles, colors, and themes than the non plus sizes.
I was addicted to Forver21 while I was pregnant. It's so inexpensive and changes all the time. If only they came out with this line then!
A great idea, I hope it really is a good plus size fit.
woo! just like a few girls who already posted, i am of the bustier persuasion, and i would truly truly appreciate a size above "L" for once (urban outfitters--take note, please!) i hope they go national--i'm only in cali every few years or so...
Good for them.
I am still crying over the loss of Isaac Mizrahi for Target - went up to an XXL, inexpensive but quality clothing. Those yellow mary janes are encouraging me to go in and check out F21 and the new line. While technically not plus size, I have the same complaint about tops - why do clothing manufacturers think women that wear a large or XL have small boobs? I could never find a button up top that buttoned over my chest mefore the IM for Target line.
How about they make a line for girls with real curves, ie hips and BOOBS...this plus size sounds like it's for more overweight girls than girls with funky proportions. I'm with the crowd that doesn't shop at Forever21 because my boobs don't fit into most everything (but I just tell people I don't like to shop there because the quality isn't good. har
)
it makes me so angry to see that, despite all the people commenting that they have a large bust, retailers still do not expand the sizes of the bust in their clothing. I have always struggled to find shirts and dresses that fit my large chest, and it downright offends me that I still have trouble and often have to buy plus-size clothing that doesn't fit the rest of my body. I agree with porkypocky, instead of everyone having plus-size lines, they need to have "real girl" lines for the thousands of girls that actually have breasts and a butt!
A Large at Forever21 is teeny tiny compared to other stores. However; this is how they keep their items cheap, by using less fabric and these are being sewn in third world countries. The clothes are cheaply made and do not last. There is no reason that they couldn't have just made decent clothing and marketed towards more people. They have forced themselves into a Pre-Pubescent market because most women have a chest. Forget being able to squeeze your boobs into a Large. There will be a lot of women shopping at Faith 21 who are not plus sized but normal sized. Unfortunately they are going to make a lot of women feel as though they are "overweight" because they want a decent size shirt. And they should test this in a city that isn't otherwise healthy. Maybe try going down south or any other area of the country were there is a bigger "plus size" market. Since breast implants are a big deal in So-Cal maybe this is why they need a "plus size" line.
OMG!!!!! I cannot believe it I am so happy when and where can I buy it in Va.
this makes me so happy forever 21 is one of my favorite stores and the possibility that things will probably fit me better now , being a big girl this can be a problem, makes me just so thankful for forever 21! THANK YOU!!!!
I'm normally a 2X, but I'm afraid to order anything online after reading all these comments about their clothes running small.
I can't believe I just found this. What a crock!
Forever 21 is a company that makes clothes for thin, petite women. This is never going to change, even with their so-called "plus size" line. I IMPLORE YOU, go look at the actual *measurements* for the sizes - they only go from a narrow 11/12 to 15/16. Three sizes! And the clothes are made for narrow figures, not people with any curves whatsoever.
Thanks a lot Forever 21, you get applauded for "taking steps in the right direction" when really all it is is just a big slap in the face. Make some clothes for actual plus sizes, then we'll talk.
Ladies, don't fret. I was discouraged by the size chart, yet I made my first order anyway, buying a 2X. When it came I was scared to try it on, being that I am a size 18 with DD boobs. The 2X was perfect! I am placing my second order online tomorrow. Ladies, order online! Don't wait for a store! If you spend $75 you get FREE SHIPPING. I ordered on Friday and got mine a week later on Friday. So much better than Target, I ordered a month ago and still haven't received my dress.
Ohhh emmm geee! i am a plus size person and let me tell you the clothes actually fit! When I first heard about this I thought the plus sizes weren't going to fit me but I was suuuper surprised when it did!!!!! This is the real deal! My friends always shopped at Forever 21 and i would feel awkward gping in because I knew it wouldn't fit me but now it does! ^_^ I am seriously going back to do some major shopping for my wardrobe change! eeeek! thanks Forever 21! you guys are doing amazing and i get even more excited when you guys upload new items online! I am not sure if yallz really know the difference you have made for some of us! I appreciate it VERY much!!!! Now its not like, "where did you get that shirt?" "oh, at a little boutique... you've probably never heard of it"--now its, "oh this one? at FOREVER 21! :D" THanks and to all of you plus siz women who aren't sure, go check it out for reals.
It's nice to see stores are finally expanding sizes because there is a lot of people who are curvier, but still want to look cute. I can't wait to buy in store all the way in Michigan. Although some companies are still picky, like abercrombie that took away their XL at A&F and HCO that was too small for an XL to begin with anyway, shame shame on them
This is great, but I really think they should have opened one in Northern California too, just to test it out all at once. SoCal has a majority of thinner girls. I hope it works out & spreads quickly.
