With friends like Chloe Sevigny and fans like Scarlett Johansson and Sean Lennon, Imitation of Christ designer Tara Subkoff has been a celebrity darling since the line's launch in 2000. The label is high concept to say the least, transforming salvage clothing into new, avant garde pieces and turning runway shows into quirky happenings. At last night's unveiling of the Spring 2007 collection, waiters roamed with buckets full of Budweiser and guests gazed at the fashions from runway-side recliners.
The fashion, meanwhile, struck an eclectic, childlike vibe, with models wearing flat sneakers and toting stuffed animals like girls dressing up in their mothers' clothes.
