Not all guys in clubs are desirable. And why is it that the undesirable ones are always the ones that hit on you? With this new Ms. Taken Faux Diamond Ring ($50), you can easily ward off unwanted men by giving them the finger . . . the ring finger, that is. All you have to do is put the silver key chain fob that houses your faux diamond on your keys and slip your ring on when said males get too close. It's a fun gift for your single ladies! What do you think of this product — freaky or fabulous?

In case you're wondering where I grabbed this from, it's a video response to Justin Timberlake's SNL skit with Andy Sandberg. Warning: Though both videos are hilarious, they're also racy and NSFW.

Not freaky or fabulous. Just stupid.
I have a ring that looks very similar to an engagement ring that I wear every day I've tried the whole slipping it on the other finger and guys usually don't notice or care, ha. So this probably wouldn't do much good...
Well said, Whiplash. A faux engagement ring shouldn't be necessary to ward off weirdos. Snappy comebacks always work for me.
What good would it do? I tell guys I'm married all the time, and their response is, "So?".
i don't think that guys notice engagement rings!&instead of buying a ring with $50 just say F* off and its even free!+what if the desirable guy came and sow the ring u ll simply say oh no im not engaged or married im just pretending2b!!!!
Hilarious. Did everyone watch the video!?
I used to do this when I worked in a bar. When I wasn't wearing the ring, I would get hit on constantly by creepy drunks. A friend recommended I wear a fake ring so I tried it. Needless to say, I stopped getting hit on. It really does work! Apparently it's an old trick of the trade in hospitality.
with that said, don't pay $50 for this. Go to Claire's.
Wow, her nail looks awful! lol!
I have a promise ring that I wear on my ring finger. Even that seems to do the trick. lol.
morgs--I used to bartend at a place that was very much a 'guy's bar' and I also had to start wearing a fake diamond ring. I thought it was silly when someone suggested it to me but it worked like a charm.
It's probably different when you are actually working at a club or restaurant or bar--rather than just a patron or customer. Sometimes you have to be downright rude or annoyed to get a message across in that atmosphere and that's not the attitude you can have if you are on staff (especially when you're working for tips!!). In those circumstances the fake ring can be the perfect solution. They leave you alone to do your job and you can keep the smiling unbothered personality!
I'm a little superstitious and think it's bad luck to wear an engagement-ring style ring on the appropriate finger. silly I know...
I'm married, and I wear a good-size, sparkling wedding set on my ring finger, and it does no good. Some men just don't care. It makes no difference to them whether I'm married or not.
One time a strange man asked for my phone number. When I informed him I was married, he asked,"Are you HAPPILY married?" The nerve.
Luckily I'm not superstitious.
Overpriced idea. Like someone else said just go get it from Claire's. On the other hand, the video's are hilarious!
lol i def woudlnt purchase this but its funny
$50 for a fake diamond??? Waste of money!
i agree, go to claires!! my friend, whos irish, got this really great emerald ring that has some type of white stone (diamond or CZ im not sure) on the flip side; when slazy guys come to her pharmacy she flips the ring from the green stone to the white stone and presto! theyre gone. i agree to not waste $50, go to claires.
hahaha my friends and i have that ... we call it Troll Repelant
Yeah I used to wear a fake engagement ring but then I found that it only repels the moderately sketchy dudes, so the ones you have to deal with are the super sketchy ones who don't care.
My friends have some rings similar to this.
Lame.
it is kind of a lame idea, to market it in this way, but i have a fake ring i have been wearing out for years.
I agree with the Claire's people. I did this when I worked at Dunkin' Donuts. I hated being called sweetie and honey and the creeps who would ask if I got off work in time to grab a drink. Ugh. Itsme is right though, it really only does repel the semi-sketch bags....there are still creeps out there who really just don't care at all what your relationship status is.
Haha my co-workers and I do this already because all the guys that come in the bookstore I work at are total creeps. We just buy cheap ring at Claires...they work the same!!
This is hilarious. I don't know about $50, but I think it's a great idea!
why is this stupid ring $50!?!??!? Who ever buys this is an idiot.
Pathetic.
I'm just straight-up b*tchy to creepstores that hit on me. Works much better than any piece of hardware, unless I'm punching the creepstore in the face.
ugh, yeah, it's sad that anyone feels there is a need for a product like this...why can people not be comfortable doing their JOBS without feeling like they have to lie about their marital status? anyway, since getting engaged and married, it has really made no difference...most men do not check out ring fingers...they just don't
has anyone noticed it says "adam sandberg" instead of "andy samberg"?
The whole idea makes no sense. It's just a waste of money. No man cares about you taking the time to put that ring on.
When a man just keep bothering you after you've already said "no thank you" nicely, then just be brave enough to say "Hey, get lost buddy!" .....Strong words are always free!
Fake is fake. Why spend $50 when you can buy one for $10-15? I think sometimes they work & sometimes they don't. I CAN be rude when I have to!
love it!! great idea. i used to wear fake diamond wedding rings when i went to the mall... guys can just be gross sometimes
My girls and I have been doing this for about 20 years--but what makes THIS so priceless is the video! Like so many others, I wouldn't buy this specific product, but yes, it can and does work (I was a waitress and bartender, too), and helpful in this day and age when giving some flip and attitude will also get you into a physical altercation with some of those dirtbags (some guys really aren't what whey used to be, ladies...)!
I've tried this a couple times, and in my experience...guys don't care about whether or not a girl is sporting an engagement ring, b/c to them you're not "snatched up" yet.
You don't need a ring, just a voice to tell them you're not interested!
This is funny but for the really sleazy guys--a ring won't even work.
my girlfriends and i would joke about being married to ward off questionable men ever so often. never tried a ring before. but the video was entertaining. i'm not sure it surpasses the lonely island's version, but i applaud the stand for ladies
I'll stick to my usual plan of telling them I have 5 kids waiting for me at home
lol
yeah it's true some (er or most) guys don't really care what ring or where you wear it. When I was single and shopped for a ring. I get drawn with wedding rings til I bought myself one. I've been wearing it forever! Now that I'm married I don't even have a wedding ring. I prefer it that way. The only wedding ring I wear is that from when I was married to just myself. LOL
You can find one for less but the concept is a good one.
I have a fake one and it works. I don't run into men that are really aggressive about hitting on me NO MATTER WHAT- they're pretty respectful and will absoluetly switch gears if they see a ring. Can depend on the places you go.
