She's cute as a button, she's quirky, she's British, but can she re-interest you in MTV? I for one haven't watched the supposed channel about music in years — OK, except for the occasional The Hills or The City episode. Aside from those guilty pleasures, I can't remember the last time I actually saw a music video or non-cheesy exploitive show. MTV's reinvention of House of Style was like Teen Vogue in technicolor — not bad — but MTV has enlisted British export Alexa Chung to infuse cool back to the once pioneering station.
The 25-year-old worked her magic on her side of the pond via modeling and TV hosting, and come June 15th she'll be delivering an hour of celebrity interviews and music performances. Chung explains, “[The premise] is I’ve just moved here and I’m trying to meet people, so I’m inviting guests to the show. The pottymouth continues to declare, “It’s about time Americans hear this s--t." She's got my attention, does she have yours?

i think that anything is possible - but it's all going to depend on how much she's able to relate to an american audience. we've seen over the years that british humor doesn't resonate as strongly as it should...and we've seen our fair share of pretty folks from around the world. i'm really open to it though - anything to get me to watch the network would be a start.
1We shall see...I'm open minded.
2lets just play music videos, how bout that?
3Briandiesel, I completely agree. I stopped watching MTV because they never even play music. What's up with that?
4she really wasn't that great on TV in England so why should we care? Bring Gok to America and I'll watch! But at the same time, there are so many people in the US that are intrigued by the UK that they wouldn't know a sh*t*y presenter from a good one.
5I love her!! I'll probably watch the show just to see what she wears.
6I agree with Briandiesel - more music videos please!
7The only thing that can save them is bringing the music back.
8one simple formula:
more videos, less idiotic reality shows = more audience.
period!
9I find Alexa Chung horribly annoying and for a 'fashion icon' she dresses somewhat like all those other 'Topshop indie kids'...hmm...
10I'm really excited for the show. She's really cute.
11I don't find her or her fashion interesting at all. She bores me.
12mtv has been dead for years
13I agree with the music videos comment. Maybe ditch all the terrible reality TV shows and start playing music videos again? When they axed TRL, probably their last music-related show, it was the last straw for me.
14I love her, but I hate MTV. and celebrity interviews - how groundbreaking...
15any time i tune in mtv i fined a stupid show!!!the only time i watch mtv is 2 watch the city or the hills other than that its a very stupid channel maybe they should play more music and get rid of the stupid shows!
16Even if her show is one hour of pure, unadulterated genius, it's still just one hour in a 24 hour schedule of crap.
It'll take more than a new "quirky" girl to save this channel. As everyone else has said, why don't they just start showing MUSIC again? Is it just a leap too far in the imaginations of the station execs?
17Love her, hopefully her show will have lots of live performances and videos.
