With Paris and Nicky Hilton on its runway and two wacky designers behind its fashions, it's no surprise that the Tuesday night show from Heatherette [1] was one of the most buzzed-about events at New York Fashion Week [2]. The models, which also included Mena Suvari and Kelis, strutted out a smorgasbord of styles ranging from lavender and gold lame to leopard and Hawaiian prints to country-club fashions gone a little nutty.
Created by designer duo Traver Rains and Richie Rich, Heatherette's clothes are admittedly off-kilter, but several innovative ideas stood out, including alphabet-print fabrics, voluminous appliques, and some truly creative layering.
