Esteban Cortazar, the 24-year-old creative director of Emanuel Ungaro, is said to be leaving his post. The reason? Supposedly the designer reached a standstill with the Ungaro management over its latest marketing and advertising strategy: using celebrities for future ad campaigns. About half a dozen potential candidates have been discussed, Lindsay Lohan being one of them. Ungaro hasn't done a womenswear campaign for years, and executives are hoping the celebrity pull will liven the house. Esteban is incredibly talented; I'll be bummed if he goes.

So sad. He really is very talented and the best thing to have happened to Ungaro in a long time!
The saddest part is that its over the celebrity-turned-model debate...honestly, I don't even think using celebrities to sell designer clothing even works.
The people who shell out money for designer clothing are often into fashion...they will buy something for the design and how it looks rather because a celebrity is wearing it. And besides, true fashionistas know their models just as well as their celebrities so might as well go back to using models!
1Can't say I blame him. Lindsay might be the last person I'd want to endorse anything.
2i second that, lizzylu. what brand would want to associate themselves with a celebrity who's only known for these days for being a tabloid queen, out of work, partying, drugs, leggings and fake tans? doesn't exactly scream chic, no?
