IT has happened to me twice - once they even charged my ccard and I had to argue with them for two weeks to get the $ reimbursed. Never again will I shop there.

I hate it when it happens. I found a REALLY good deal for a dress and it got cancelled because it was out of stock. I was so ....ahh. LOL

Ugh! Yes! At Barneys too. A beautiful pair of Christian Louboutin pumps. I was so bummed. I placed the order and then 2 days later got a email of the cancelation.

I would be OUTRAGED!!!!!!!!! Did they tell you why soldout? Discontinued or just left you cold?!?! I have several Barney's gc's I got for my b-day and now I think I better just go in the store and see if I can find something there as opposed to shopping online.

Yep! Nordstrom has hurt my feelings at least 5 times. The latest was just two weeks ago. It was a very pretty red/blue faux wrap dress. I was looking forward to hooking it up w/great accessories and my fave yellow pumps. CRUSHED...

Nordstrom also was out of stock on a juicy tube that I wanted. I was so looking forward to it.

That happened to me shopping online at Michael Kors. They accepted payment and everything and then later they told me it was canceled. Granted, it was because I used my card out of state and they were suspicious but even still it sucked just the same, thinking it's coming and then it's not.

It happened to me at Net a Porter before Christmas and I lost a Marc by Marc Jacobs coat I was utterly in love with!!

To make matters worse, I emailed to complain about it and they mailed me back saying "yes we DO have that coat in stock, would you like to reorder it?"

??? At this point I had already gone to a huge amount of trouble (calling about 30 branches of Neiman Marcus!!) to order the coat elsewhere, so I was properly pissed!

I think every single order of sale items I've placed at Barneys online has been canceled. I also got a Rick Owens biker leather jacket and the Ann Demeulemeester laceup sandals canceled in the same week. My heart was crushed.

This happened to me last week and I was heartbroken! There's nothing worse than realizing something is out of stock when you've finally decided you realllllllly need it. Sigh. Glad I'm not alone in this

Yes, and it was a pain to get it all sorted out with the bank. I just love it when they (the online shop and the bank are all pointing fingers at each other and saying things like I have to take care of it with the shop, then the shop said, it's the bank I have to talk to, etc LOL) Gawd, that's part of the reason, I avoid shopping online as much as I can.

Sort of. It wasn't with clothing, though. It was with furniture. I received notice it was back-ordered for a month. Then a month later, I got another notice it was back-ordered again for ANOTHER month. Another month passed, and guess what? I received yet another notice it was back-ordered AGAIN for another month!

The kicker is that the item was charged on my credit card when I originally submitted the order (months prior). By the third notice, I asked for a refund. And the refund was hard to come by (they did not make it easy). It took two weeks.

For me- it was a sale item at anthropologie and I had just bought the item in white at the store and wanted it in grey, so i went online, ordered and DAYS later they tell me they're sold out. well lucky for me-- went to the store and there it was! fashion fate!

I have had it happen with Barney's also. Haven't shopped there since.

I also stopped shopping at Barney's because of this. It's happened two or three times (always shoes!) and nowhere else. They need a better system that updates their stock real-time.

Yes, this has happened - I got a shipping notification for half of my order and went to check when the other half was going to be shipped, and was surprised to find it was just simply NOT in my order any longer! They still had it listed on their website though, so I sent them an email asking what happened. They were quick to apologize, and sent me the original order free of charge!

It happened to me once because the item I ordered ran out of stock, but I much later randomly found it in the store. Now it is my lucky jacket.
