I have to share my excitement with you all: I'm going to see one of my all-time favorite bands, The Beastie Boys, this summer! This will be my fourth time seeing them and I'm so psyched to whip out my Adidas and old-school gear for them.
Thanks to the Beasties, white boys gained coolness. Seriously, these white boys from NYC encouraged several trends: beanies, super fresh message tee shirts, saggy pants, flannels and who can forget Mike D and his love for oversized, goofy sunglasses? Did you know they even had their own clothing line called X-Large? My adolescent Betties and I shopped, hung out, and swooned over the fine shop boys at X-Large in Berkeley, CA. The line has lived on, but the Beasties moved on to bigger and better things...like freeing Tibet, settling down and just remaining ill.
Here's one of my all time favorite Beastie videos from their 1992 album Check Your Head. The funky dance moves around :30 is my favorite part...sit back, relax and enjoy the FABTV.

I've never been a big Beastie's fan but I've always enjoyed them. And this is my all-time favorite song of theirs.
1I LOVED this video when it came out, I still love it, and this song too.
2I used to be the biggest Beastie fan ever. Sophia Copola used to sell her line at Mike D's store in LA. I saw him in New York at the Maritime Hotel last year and he looked rough.
3OMG! the beastie boys! i remember being so into them in high school!
4NONSTOP
5LOVED them- memories! I will always have a soft spot for them.
6Beastie Boys put on a great show! I can honestly say that their show was one of the best, ive ever been to..... Too bad I have to miss them next time they are in NY
7I love the Beastie Boys.I love that video.
8I still own a X-Large snowboarding jacket I bought at their then Berkeley store...I cried when that sucker closed. I have seen the Beasties more than any other group when it comes to concerts....Freedom Tibet in SF was the craziest of them all! However...the one in Oakland did get my shirt ripped open.
9This is by far my favorite song and video from them!
I too have seen them live a couple of times, and was blown away every time. I hope you enjoy yourself! I'm completely jealous
10Oh lucky! I would love to see them live in concert! I've been listening to them since my middle school years. I remember having 3 posters of them up on my walls and a list of all their discography.....I was pretty fanatic about them. I still am, but as creepily crazy. I love their instrumentals. And I was pleasantly surprised with to the 5 boroughs, it's a great album! I especially like the open letter to nyc.
They have the illest rhymes! Rock out to the max for me at the show!
11Oh, I forgot to put *not as creepily crazy....heh...
12Enjoy! Good concerts never happen in the same cities as me. . .
13Beastie Boys = classic
14This song is a staple in my Workout mix on my iPod, but I had never seen the video before until now! Yeah Fab, the freestyle dance funk at the near-end of the video is the best part!
15I remember when this song came out. It was and still is one of my all-time faves!
