Here is Penelope Cruz in head-to-toe red Bottega Veneta, on the red carpet, at the London premiere of Broken Embraces. Before we judge, let's discuss. The actress is clearly in love with red, which we know is going to be a huge color for Fall. She's wearing an oversized Bottega Veneta red blazer over a red tank, red trousers, a red belt, and standing on a matching red carpet. The only things that aren't red are her T-strap sandals, her jewels, and lips! Is this too much of a good thing?
it's too much, but i would argue the worse offense is the agressive combination of trends. i genuinely like the boyfriend blazer look. and i'm warming to the '80s/early '90s stuff - in measured doses. the shoulder pads/big pants/non-neutral suiting is all too much for me. likewise, i can be persuaded on the pants-rolling but not with FORMAL pants (i.e. pants that aren't khaki or denim).
She doesn't look bad, but it'd be better if her tank was a different color.
it would have been okay if she wasnt standing on a RED CARPET. i mean really??
I think it's actually pretty clever--she matches the carpet REALLY well, and she kept everything else minimal. And clearly, there was very little red in her surroundings, so she really stands out.
she blends in with the carpet...
For some reason, I think she looks AMAZING! I know it's alot of red, but it somehow works. Just ignore the red carpet, which was just a stupid mistake for her, but if we are asking if Penelope looks good, heck yeah she does! I'm just glad the tank is very low-cut because the skin keeps the outfit from being too much (in my opinion).
the thing what make look "bad" is the red carpet
XD
her skin maker her look good with the shade of red..... i like how she looks actually
I think she pulls this off like no other! interesting take on rolling up the pants. wouldn't have thought it would work as well as it does!
It looks fine, but the fact that the carpet is the same color makes it look worse. Picture it separately.
She looks like the Kool-Aid man.
I think she can pull this off because of her coloring. Her hair is enough to balance all the red.
I read on People.com that this wasn't what she planned to wear. Her luggage got stolen and this was what she happened to have in a carry on. Given that, I think she looks great!
She can do no wrong....
I think she looks gorgeous, but the red carpet makes it seem like too much. If she was standing on another color, it would be fine.
she makes it work (other than the red carpet)...i think i would like the pants more if they were just cropped and not rolled. rolled formal pants seem weird to me.
I like it. She has very strong features and red is a very good color on her, though I wish there was some sort of necklace to break up the top half a bit. Something natural-toned to tie the shoes in.
Hate it, and I totally agree with the first post. To me, Kate Moss does the boyfriend blazer perfectly, and she usually pairs them with short, fitted dresses. The over-sized blazer with the baggy, high-waisted pants is just not flattering. I think at a certain point, no matter how "on-trend" your outfit is, you just have to look in the mirror and say "is this attractive, or does it just make me look frumpy and 20 lbs heavier?" Each piece individually is nice, but together, it's a nightmare.
it is okay except the rolled pants !!
i don't like any of the trends she's wearing and i don't even like red for myself but somehow i think she looks perfect.
The neutral shoes are key to making this look work. How those shoes were picked I have no idea but that would be a hard decision for me!
I love it, all of the red matches. it would look 1,000 times better if she wasn't on the red carpet.
Forget about the red-overload, I think the outfit is hideous.
Yeah, all the red is a little much. And I agree, Diesdre, it's pretty hideous, as well.
It's just too much.
if only she had worn a non-red tank! I actually love the color on her; and even though I think a tapered pant would have been so much better; I'm okay with the blazer, belt, pants, and shoes (amazing!). it's wayyyyy to much red though; a neutral colored tank would have been perfection...
