This just in! Kate and Andy Spade are taking a step down from their namesake brand they built together. According to WWD, after being acquired by Liz Claiborne Inc., they have decided to no longer be designer and chief executive officer. The decision was deemed a personal one, as the duo wants to spend time traveling with their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. More about who will fill their preppy shoes to come!

Hmm... I'm interested to see what their lines will look like now. I love the simplicity of most Kate Spade stuff, I seriously hope it doesn't change too much.
1So sad! I'm afraid that that whomever Liz hires may make the label look generic!
2Kate Spade has an identity that is really their own and I hope that Liz Claiborne empire will not try to change it to look radically diffrent or too generic
3Phew! I was afraid you were going to say they got divorced.
4I agree with everyone Kate Spade had her own thing going..I hope the whole line becomes cheapy & generic
5thats too bad. her wallets are my favorite.
6Kate Spade has been overdone and I'm tired of her handbags, personally.
7i thought kate and andy were already divorced. as far as who takes over the line... remember tim gunn from project runway left his position and went with liz claiborne. could be him? he would probably be able to keep the integrity that kate has created.
8Interesting since Liz Claiborne died last month. I guess her death hasn't affected the company at all.
9Interesting, I like some things by Liz Claiborne like her necklaces and this paisley skirt I have.
I hope whoever it is they keep true to Kate's style.
10Woah! Total mind blow!!
And to everyone who's worried: Kate Spade is an iconic, profitable brand. Of course Liz Claiborne isn't going to run it into the ground (or try to change it; then why buy the brand at all). Don't you trust any company that just hired Tim Gunn to make it work???
11Well I'm sad because I like her stuff a lot.
12Interesting-wonder if that will change or destroy Kate Spade Inc.?
I am jealous, though. Wish I had the opportunity to make a ton and then walk away, rich & fulfilled and happy!
13Good for them!
i don't know. hearing this news makes me question what direction Liz Claiborne will take. I hope it doesn't drastically change the image of Kate Spade. I like their simplicity.
