Practically speaking, hats are supposed to shield you from the cold. In fashion, however, hats are one of the best solutions for giving your outfit some class and sass.
This Marc by Marc Jacobs Faux Fur Beanie Hat, $168, will keep you warm come Fall, but I'm not so sure it'll make you look Fab. The pom-pom makes it look like a child's hat (and I usually love pom-poms) and the rib-knit trim conjures up images of a cheesy ski lodge. Plus, it makes the model look like a cone head. Do you agree?

22It's a tad silly, but I remember growing up in the midwest well enough to know that when the wind chill is 60 below, it ain't a fashion show. Which of course belabours the point of why spend so much to keep your ears warm?
